Advantages: Good if you like Cherry Bakewell Tarts!

Disadvantages: Tastes and smells of Bakewell tarts, extremely high sugar content.

Cherry flavoured items are abit like Marmite, in the sense that you either love them or you don't, there's not really an inbetween as such. Well I happen to be one of those people that absolutely love anything Cherry flavoured or scented, so when I saw this Lucazade I was thrilled! I drink Lucazade anyhow, so to now have it in my favourite flavour was brilliant news....or so you would have thought!

Before starting work I took a quick gulp to wash down a paracetamol and straight away this intense smell wooshed out at me and it tasted strange, there was no denying it was a cherry smell and taste but there was something I wasn't quite sure of about it, something I couldn't quite put my finger on, it was ok but didn't bowl me over like I had expected it to. Anyhow, I was rushing into work and thought no more of it until lunch time when I had another taste. There it was again, that weird smell that reminded me of something but I couldn't place it, it reminded me of something that I knew really didn't like but couldn't think what exactly.

When I got home I gave it to my OH (who has an intense dislike of cherry flavoured things!) and asked him to tell me what it smelt like. Straight away he wrinkled his nose and exclaimed "Urgh, it smells like those cakey things that you don't like!" then upon taking a quick taste he said "Urgh, and it tastes like them too!" They've only gone and made it taste (and smell) like a Cherry Bakewell Tart haven't they?! I hate those things with a vengance, I'll eat the cherry off the top and that's it!

I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to like this new Lucazade. I had high hopes for it, from the moment I saw it in the fridge looking all stylish in it's black and red bottle with two juicy looking cherries on the front. I'll be sticking to the orange version in future. The girl behind the till even told me it tasted like Cherry Cola....erm no it doesn't....I wish it did!

Lucazade isn't something I drink all the time (well I try not to anyhow!) due to it's extremely high sugar content, 51.7g which is an anstounding 57% of your daily amount! It also contains 262 calories! So as with everything, ok in moderation.

Looking at the ingredients on the back, apparently it includes "extract of black carrot" I've never heard of a black carrot, have you?!

Summary: I'll be sticking to the Orange flavour from now on.

Aw, disappointed! Cheery bakewell tarts are nice as a tart - but not as a drink flavour!
