Advantages: Nice taste, attractive bottle.

Disadvantages: Sugary, but hey, sometimes you need it!

I love anything cherry flavoured, so I just had to try the new Lucozade cherry energy drink which has recently released. Its in the same sized and shaped bottle to the other flavours, and has a really cool black and red colour scheme on the bottle, which makes it pretty unisex (I think otherwise it might look a bit girly holding a cherry flavoured drink?!).

I've tried all the other Lucozade flavours apart from Tropical, and this is one of the favourites. As any fizzy drink, it's pretty high on the unhealthy sugary level, but it's not as unhealthy as some fizzy drinks. Its a nice satisfying drink, which is quite sweet, but not sickeningly sweet.

The cherry taste is really nice and flavoursome, better than some cheaper non-famous brand pop. In terms of energy for sports performance, I think the Lucozade Sport variety of drinks are better for this. Lucozade Energy, which this review is on, is better for when you need a perk up or just want a nice fizzy refreshing drink.

This flavour isn't guaranteed to be free of animal derivatives, but the Original, Orange, Lemon and Tropical flavours are, to the best of Lucozade's knowledge!

The drinks are GM-free and generally okay for those with gluten allergy, but best to check with Lucozade directly if you're concerned about this.

Lucozade Cherry is available in 1 litre, 500ml, 380ml bottles and 330ml cans.

Ingredients:
Carbonated water, glucose fructose syrup (24%), Cherry juice from concentrate (2%), citric acid, extracts of (black carrot, blackcurrent), preservatives (potassium sorbate, sodium bisulphate), caffeine (0.012%), antioxidant (ascorbic acid).

I think it's a really nice drink for those days when water just won't quench the kind of thirst you have, and if you're lucky, a lot of places like Tesco, Wilkinsons and Superdrug often have an offer on if you buy 2 bottles. If you care about your health, I don't recommend drinking this on a daily or very frequent basis.

If you like this, you'll probably also like Tango Cherry, which isn't as easy to find, but is equally nice!

Summary: A nice flavoured refreshing perk me up drink.
