Lucozade was the drink I remember well from my childhood but one that I was only ever purchased when I was ill due to it being quite expensive and very high in sugar. Although I still love the taste of the original lucozade there is now a variety of different flavours available to purchase including cherry, orange, blackcurrant and now pink lemonade.
The Lucozade pink lemonade can be purchased in most supermarkets and some local shops. I purchased a 380ml bottle from a newsagent where it was priced at £1.20 or two bottles for £1.60.
The pink lemonade flavoured Lucozade comes packaged in a clear plastic bottle which has a silver screw top cap and a plastic wrap around label which is pink in colour and covers the whole bottle. On the front of the bottle it states that this Lucozade is 'limited edition' and also has the slogan 'drink, think, do'. On the back of the bottle you can find more detailed information about the drink including ingredients listing, nutritional information and how the drink works to increase energy levels. It also states that the drink is not designed to replace fluid loss from an upset stomach and is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
Obviously with this being a glucose drink it is very high in calories with a 330ml bottle containing 217 calories and 51.7g of sugar.
The drink is described on the label as being a sparkling lemon and red berry flavoured glucose drink and contains a combination of lemon, cranberry and raspberry juice. As the name suggests the Lucozade drink its actually pale pink in colour so looks lovely when poured into a glass. This drink is obviously very sweet as you can imagine with it being a glucose based drink but you can taste a slight hint of lemon which is quite nice. Although I think this is the sweetest tasting Lucozade in the range of flavours I do find it quite a nice flavour especially when served ice cold. I think the only negative about this drink is the fact that the fizziness does not really last very long as once the bottle has been opened it does go flat quite quickly. I tend to drink Lucozade when my energy levels are low or if I am not feeling my best as I find that it does give me an alertness boost, perking me up for an hour or two.
Overall this is a great alternative to the Lucozade original favourite and gives me the sugar boost I need at times. I would like to see this flavour stay around as I would continue to purchase it but only occasionally due to the high sugar content and its potential effect on my waistline and dental bills.
