I have always been around lucozade thanks to my Dad, whenever he was training or ill out would come the bottle of lucozade. Never the original though always the Orange as apparently the original is 'bad' for you - that's what he told me anyway.

I would always have a sneaky swig of his lucozade that he tucked so neatly by the side of his chair when he was ill when I was younger and I was impressed at how nice it tasted. Ever since my phase of sneaky swigs I've been buying my own larger and small bottles to stock up in my fridge for them 'down days'.

The orange lucozade bottles are a lighter and more appealing orange colour than the original dark orange bottles and do say orange at the bottom - in case you are not sure when searching in a store. You can also buy the original lucozade energy like I've mentioned, tropical, lemon and others as well as still energy drinks - but orange is most definitely my favourite.

It's basically a fizzy drink but made for energy purposes. It is meant to give you a bit of a boost when your bodies feeling low.

On the bottle you are told that while drinking this it is 'Giving you a physical edge' and the word 'Energy' is swiped underneath the word Lucozade itself.

On reading the back of the bottle it says ..

Tired of battling through your day?

Get your edge back with Lucozade energy

Provides glucose which acts fast to refuel your body for phsycial activity.

It all sounds too good to be true from a fizzy drink doesn't it? So does it actually live up to these questions and comments?

Well I'm a stickler for saying things like this are all 'in the mind'. It's like slimming pills - you think to yourself well I'm popping this pill so I'm not going to be hungry - you train your brain to believe these weird and bizarre things. I honestly believe however that not only does this drink provide fizzy drink lovers with a sweet tasting fizzy drink it does actually boost you somewhat.

Although the drink is 'Orange' flavoured it tastes nothing like sugary orange pops it is far better - I find it is richer in flavour and the quality in the drink is most definitely evident on the tongue. It is actually similar in flavour to the original in my opinion but a softer and of course more orangey version and even though still having fizz it has less fizz than the original.

Usually I don't find fizzy drinks refreshing as such but with Lucozade Orange I feel it is a refreshing and tasty drink although if you drink alot you will become bloated and it can become quite heavy and sickly for the stomach. I feel it does give you that slight boost as it is so refreshing, especially when refridgerated and also the encouraging words on the bottle help to stimulate your body and mind on top of this. Well I did say I do believe things like this are mostly in your mind.

I have just drunk a full 500ml bottle which was on offer for 2 bottles for £1.60 but you can buy larger bottles for over £1.70 a bottle. You can purchase them in most Supermarkets and even your local cornershops and newsagents.

On the back of this bottle it tells me a 250ml serving of this contains;

175 calories
34.5g sugars
Nil fat content

So this drink is very high in sugars and calories so it is probably best drunk in moderation - which is always advised with any fizzy drink anyway whether it be an energy drink or not.

I would definitely reccomend this to anybody just looking for a little bit of a lift on one of THEM days, you know the gloomy ones where you just aint feeling your usual perky self. Even if you don't feel it gives you that boost you want it does taste lovely.
