Advantages: Tasty

Disadvantages: Might not be to your taste

Whenever me and my sister were ill when we were little girls we were tucked up into bed and fed on pobbies ( hot milk with bread in it ) a northern remedy, then chicken soup when we were getting better and a glass of lucozade every day. This gave you the energy to recover from being pourly and after drinking a glass full of lucozade you'd feel fit enough to sit up in bed and read or draw.

As I got older I got into long distance running and found that lucozaed was great to drink in little sips as you were running along, it gave you energy to keep going and now I am older still, I prefer the original flavour to all the other new flavours lucozade has added to their energy drinks.

The bottles haven't changed much over the years apart from changing the glass to plastic, the design has stayed more or less the same. The glass bottles of old used to be covered in orange see through film which as a child we used to peel off and look through to see the world in a bright orangy colour, most strange and attractive to a child's mind. Nowadays the bottles are just orange coloured and see through so that you can see the liquid which is also orange inside the bottle.

The cap is a twist off lid and the liquid inside is fizzy so do be careful when your opening this as it can fizz up and spill out of the bottle, i have found this out a few times whilst drinking it in the car with my partner driving and putting his foot on the breaks a bit to fast.
The liquid has fizzed up and spilled all over me much to his amusement.

The taste of lucozade is hard to discribe and anyone who has drankt the original flavour would probably agree that it does seem to have a unique taste which other companies have never seemed to copy, unlike cola and other soft drink companies.
I personally love the taste, it is tangy and has zing.

You can feel the effects of the energy drink within about five minutes of drinking it, so if you have hyper-active children do not give them this to drink, otherwise your day will be harder than usual. I know my son was hyper-active and could not go near lucozade without it making him behave totally out of control. Even when he was ill it was not suitable for him.

It is made by GlaxoSmithKline and if you have any consumer questions you can contact them om 0800 096 3666, the drink is not suitable for children under two years old and personally I wouldn't give it to little one's under ten but that's just my oppinion as it makes them hyper.

It contains glucose and caffine which is where the energy comes from and has a high calorie content of 73 calories per 100ml.
Most small bottles of lucozade are 500ml so your getting 365 calories per bottle and if your drinking this with your lunch then it's not suitable for anyone who's on a diet or counting calories.
It will cost you about 79p for a bottle of 500ml but you can often find it on offer for 2 bottles for 99p at various garages and supermarkets.

If on the other hand your working out at the gym, running or going out doors for a long walk then thias drink is brilliant, for recovery from illness when your feeling weak or just run down then it's great. I drink it when I'm at work to keep me going if I've missed breakfast.

I love it.

The only time I ever touch this stuff is when I'm ill and cannot eat - otherwise I find it far too sweet and sickly.

I recall spilling this and being very worried at the level of staining that occurred - I wonder what our insides look like when we've had it!
