Advantages: Nice taste, good energy boost
Disadvantages: Make sure it's cold otherwise it can be sickly
In an ever growing market this sports drink has been top of the sales list for years. It may suprise you but this drink was first made way back in 1927 by a Newcastle chemist looking for a drink that would give people a boost of energy. It was named Lucozade in 1929 and apart from changes to the bottle has stayed the same ever since .
This review is on Lucozade original but now there are many other flavours of the drink including Lemon, Tropical, Apple and Wild Berry flavours and also a new Lucozade water drink called hydro active which is also a very nice refreshing drink.
Ingredients
Carbonated Water, Glucose Syrup (26%), Orange Juice from fruit concentrate, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Flavourings, Preservatives (Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Bisulphate), Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Colour (Sunset Yellow).
Lucozade is different to other energy drinks because it doesnt have any caffeine in it. You can buy Lucozade from loads of places, supermarkets, train stations, gyms and newsagents and also just about anywhere else that has a soft drinks machine.
Obviously the price you pay will differ by what size bottle you have. You can buy it in either a 500ml bottle or 1.5l bottle. You can buy the 500ml for about 90p and the 1.5l for around £1.60. Some places may be a little more expensive than others but not overly.
In practice does this really work? yes is the answer, It was a lovely mild day today in my hometown of Taunton in Somerset and I played football with a couple of mates, during a little break my mates popped a few yards up the road and bought 2 bottles each including two for me. We had all had this before but Hadn't put it in practice for a while until today
Even though it had been a while that we hadnt played we were able to go on longer due to having a few swigs of this from time to time. The taste is a nice orangey taste but needs to be cold otherwise the drink can be a bit sickly.
Lucozade is very safe for Children over two years old and it is said to help you treat Hypoglycemia due to the ingredient of glucose.
Many people visiting someone in hospital bring in a bottle of Lucozade usually with some grapes.
Lucozade is very trusted in professional sports with major stars like Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Damien Duff, James Cracknell, and Jonny Wilkinson and also major sports clubs and organisations like FA Premier League, England Rugby Football Union, The Irish Football Team and The Flora London Marathon.
Overall I would recommend this drink to anyone looking for a safe energy boost whether they are working late or if they are playing sports or going to the gym. The taste helps aswell.
Summary: A great boost
