Energy? Not really. Taste? Oh yes (Lucozade Energy)

Advantages: Cheap, very satisfying, great taste

Disadvantages: Not particularly energizing

Despite it being right there in the title of the drink, I've never really found Lucozade to be an energizing beverage. During and after drinking some, rather than feeling ready to face the day and full beans, I just feel normal, albeit less thirsty.

I can therefore not recommend Lucozade as an energy/sports drink (although many would disagree) because as far as providing my body with fuel, I feel water does just as good a job.

However, that being said, Lucozade is still probably my favourite drink. Why? Because of the taste and how amazingly refreshing it is when you feel parched.

The taste itself is unrivaled in the soft drinks market. While obviously fruity and very sweet (I believe Lucozade is one of the few drinks not to have been watered down completely over the past few years) there is a slight metally, mediciney kick beneath, and rather than being off-putting it actually totally makes the drink.

In terms of Lucozade quenching your thirst,well, it really really does. No other 500ml bottle of juice that can be bought in a supermarket or newsagent is as satisfying when it hits the back of the throat as Lucozade.

A final plus point for this former medicine is the price: Lucozade generally costs less per 500ml than other energy drinks, and therefore in the current credit crunch is a very refreshing choice.
