Advantages: Readily available, recyclable bottle, tastes nice.

Disadvantages: A little expensive when not on special offer.

I have been known to have days where I just don't have the inclination or the stomach for eating much and on days like this I like to have a bottle of Lucozade Energy to try and keep my brain active whilst giving my body a little something to keep it going.

Lucozade Energy is providing in a clear plastic bottle with a red screw top lid and a plastic coating around the bottle which is red & orange in colour with the Lucozade logo, nutritional information, ingredients & company information in several languages.

The drink itself is a thick syrupy liquid that is orange in colour and fizzy when the bottle is first opened but I like to pour out a glass and then stir it to remove the fizz to help keep my stomach settled. It tastes very sugary and it's hard to put my finger on a particular ingredient as it has quite a distinctive taste which is really hard to describe.

I really do find that I get a good lift when I've had some Lucozade and this is mainly because the second highest ingredient is glucose syrup (25% of the drink) but although it's probably very bad for my teeth it helps keep me going on the days when nothing else is working and it is a drink that I thoroughly enjoy.

Each 250ml serving contains 175 calories & 21.8g of sugars so this should be enjoyed in moderation but if have been unwell and are barely eating anyway a glass or two of this could be just what you need to perk you up although please note that this should not be used to replace fluids lost during diarrhoea, is not suitable for children under 3 and will stain if spilt.

I purchased a 1 litre bottle of Lucozade Energy for £1.59 from my local Co-Operative and this is a special offer price with the usual price being £1.95 (which is just too expensive for me!).

I am rating Lucozade Energy 4/5 as it's very nice, helps me feel better but it's a little expensive when not on special offer. It does have a long sell by date so it's easy enough to stock up when I see it for a reasonable price.

Summary: A great energy drink helping me to get my edge back.
