Advantages: Great taste, superb for athletes apparently

Lucozade is a very different thirst quencher that's promoted as the ultimate drink for athletes, and this isotonic sports drink has successfully differentiated itself from other, more harmful energy drinks like Red Bull and Relentless. It focuses less on promoting working through a grind, and instead on increasing energy and performance in physical activity.

Although flavoured with sugar and various sweeteners, it does not include the harmful substances like Taurine which do your body very little good. There are by now numerous flavours, including Tropical, Raspberry and even the rather strange and admittedly alluring Mixed Citrus. It's a superb drink to keep you fuelled and hydrated, meaning you can last that little bit longer when out on a run, or gunning for the goal in a football match.

Unlike the aforementioned, Lucozade relies on science to establish itself as a firmly recognised hydration counterpart. It helps to replenish electrolytes, which facilitate hydration, and therefore keep fatigue and extremely tiredness at bay for a little longer whilst you're working out. The bottles themselves are light, containing 500ml, and have the usual squirt cap, making it easy to grab a sip whilst on the move.

With all of these benefits, it does cost a little more than other similar energy and soft drinks, but if you're a very active person, or an active competitor in sporting events, I imagine that it must be worth it. Myself, as someone who only plays the odd game of football, doesn't really get the full benefit of the drink, but I still very much enjoy the taste, so don't hesitate to quench my thirst with these wonderful drinks if they take my fancy.
