Advantages: Perfect to use at work, in the car, at home anywhere really
Disadvantages: None
When it comes to the weekly shop I tend to do it on my own and I much prefer this as I have full control over what goes into the cupboards but this weekend my better half decided he was going to come with me and as he was in a better mood than normal the shopping took a lot longer to get done as he spent time browsing the aisles the result of which was this product getting added to the trolley.
*~*Who are Lyons?*~*
Lyons have been offering coffee perfection since 1904 using coffee beans from Central and South America for their quality and flavour.
Lyons offer a Rainforest Alliance with their products which simply means that the farms that their coffee is grown the premium paid ensures that the highest standards of sustainability, environmental conservation and social responsibility are maintained.
*~*Coffee Bags??*~*
When my partner said how he wanted Coffee Bags I thought he was going mad but a colleague in his workplace had recommended them to him and he set about locating them in our local Tesco Store.
Offering original and decaffenated are currently available and both retail at £1.89 for 18 individual bags.
The coffee bags are similar to tea bags except they are a little larger and they are ideal for use at home, at work, in a rush or anywhere else really as all you need is a mug and a kettle and milk it you take it in your coffee.
Contained in the big silver cardboard box are 18 individual foil wrapped bags to keep them fresh. To the bottom of the box is a handy little dispenser so you can just grab one as and when you want one from the box.
The coffee is rated medium strength and this can be seen on the box that rates Lyons coffee from 1-5 in terms of strength.
*~*How do they work?*~*
In a similar manner to a tea bag really. Each tea bag is individually wrapped and there is a green arrow to the top right hand side of the sachet to indicate where to open and retrieve the coffee bag.
Simply put the bag into a mug, yes a full size mug not a cup as most products seem to base their measurements on, and pour on freshly boiled water and the coffee bag then begins to get released.
The water instantly gets darker as the coffee begins to react with the water and I find that you have to push the bag back down to the bottom as the air keeps bringing it right back up to the top!
The fantastic thing about this coffee is the aroma its much better than instant as the aroma fills the room it really is like freshly brewed coffee, I leave the bag in the mug for approximately 3 minutes and this gives me the desired strength but you can leave it a little longer if you want a stronger coffee.
My partner loves these and absolutely swears by them, on the first day we bought them I found him having 2 coffees one after the other and at £1.89 a box I cannot see them lasting all that long.
I have to admit that I prefer them to instant as well, although I am not a real coffee lover when I do have a coffee I like it black and strong and these bags allow me to have a real Americano in my living room without that bitter taste that you get from instant coffee.
Once you get to the end of your coffee you will find some remains at the bottom of your mug which I find a little annoying with the last mouthful.
For convenience these really work and are ideal to take to work if you have access to a kettle, although we do have a coffee machine at home by the time we get it out of the cupboard and set it all up and get the coffee brewing I could be halfway through enjoying my mug of coffee with less washing up to do!
So if you want a fresh tasting coffee without the hassle and inconvenience of using a coffee machine then these could be your answer.
