Advantages: Good for travelling, work and for camping.

Disadvantages: Messy like tea bags!

I decided to try Lyons fresh ground coffee one cup bags as I do a lot of travelling. In the course of doing so I often stay in hotels and lodges where if there is a tea/coffee tray the ranges offered vary from the sublime to the ridiculous. Sometimes they are adorned with every kind of tea bag and coffee sachet you can imagine not to mention delicious biscuits, but often they are nothing more than a value packet of something which tastes awful. So when I saw these I thought "right get them they will do for this and for camping and other trips."

I bought a box for £1.59 for 18 so they are a good buy for drinking on the move. I wouldn't buy them for home, but for work they would be good and could actually save money if you are one of the many who enjoy the odd take away coffee, or maybe if your colleagues are prone to helping themselves to your supplies when your back is turned. In this case you could slip some into your bag each day. The packing is really lavish. Each bag is enclosed in a large square wrapper so they keep fresh until you need them Normal come in silver and decaf in gold.

So how do you make them? Well all you do is boil some water, open the sachet and let the water do the job. After 3 to 5 minutes you have a cup of coffee which tastes as good as if you had made it in a percolator.

The coffee is certified 30% Rainforest Alliance which if you didn't know is an organisation which supports the growers to ensure they are cared for properly and that they are able to produce coffee in a sustainable way. This helps families in these countries and by choosing to buy the products you are contributing to the lives of many of whom some are totally dependant on coffee for their livehoods. The coffee is paid for at an agreed price and this protects the income of the farmers. The vegetation beside rivers and springs is protected which means that they can produce coffee for many years to come without destroying the environment There are also initiatives to help these communities live better lives by supporting them in areas such as health and education. No longer are companies solely about profit but are looking to the future to protect people and the lands from which they originate.

The website www.coffeeperfection.com tells you all about Lyons coffee and if you follow the links on there you can send off for two free bags to try. I did and picked the decaf and then followed this up by buying 18 of the normal ones subsequently.

I can't see them replacing normal coffee in our house as you have to dispose of the bag which is messy and really unnecessary, though if you are someone who maybe only has a very occasional cup of coffee these could be for you as they will always be fresh. For myself I will buy them for camping and travelling.

Summary: A Great Idea For Coffee On The Move
