I must say that Maker's mark is a great whisky, let me tell you why. Just picture to yourself, a man in a nice comfy red bathrobe sitting in a high-backed velvet upholstered chair in front of a nice warm crackling fire while a snowstorm wails outside. This man raises a delicately etched crystal glass to his nose and swirls the contents around, savoring the aroma of the liquid joy, he senses wood-smoke and love, the scent of malt and mature age. I must admit I have been a big fan of bourbon for many years. I suppose I started where most people did, with Jack Daniels. I didn't like it so I suppose that was not a very auspicious start. Fortunately a friend, who knew a bit more about this style of drink, told me that Jack Daniels is not a very good example, comparing it to your average run-of-the-mill "cooking" scotches that you can buy quite cheaply in most supermarkets.
