Advantages: Quick and easy

Disadvantages: Doesn't taste of Maltesers

I've seen some negative reviews of this hot chocolate, so I thought that I would write my own review to put across my thoughts on it. This is actually my favourite hot chocolate, and I have tried more than a few in my quest for this! That is not to say that it is the perfect hot chocolate, but I have yet to find an instant hot chocolate that matches up to the shop bought ones that I love so much as a treat.

At first taste, this is lovely and creamy. I wouldn't say that it actually tastes much of Maltesers, despite being a Maltesers brand but it is chocolatey. The taste tends to get weaker as you drink though, so by the time you have got to the bottom of a large mug, there probably won't be much left in the way of creaminess. The packaging advises adding five heaped teaspoons to the mug of hot chocolate but depending on the size of your cup, you may need to use more than this. Even in a standard sized cup, five heaped teaspoons produces quite a thin and watery consistency. However, adding one more heaped teaspoon usually ensures that it is more creamy. Although the packaging doesn't specifically state that you need to do this, I always add a drop of milk to create a little more creaminess, but this does water down the hot chocolate and a little more hot chocolate needs to be added to compensate for this. With this in mind, it is probably not much of a surprise that I get through a container of this every ten days or so, even though I only have one cup a day.

This is described as a hot chocolate malt drink, so it probably isn't the drink for you if you are looking for a really chocolatey variety that is really thick and creamy.

Summary: My current hot chocolate of choice
