“ Manufacturer: Marks & Spencer / Type: Water „
Going out for your lunch seems to be so expensive these days that lately when I've been in town I have decided to just save money by simply grabbing a sandwich or something. Of course, with a sandwich you end up needing to buy a drink to quench your thirst and when in marks and spencer this is my top choice for a drink!
The packaging is a clear 500ml plastic bottle (it's not available in any other sizes) and therefore can easily be used again as it has a screw top lid rather than a sports cap which is easy to take off and fill up! All of the information is on the plastic label around the bottle, but there is not a lot of this, not that I would ever really bother to sit and read it!
The actual drink is really lovely, I find it very refreshing when I'm thirsty or hot, or just a nice drink! Because it is a flavoured water it quenches your thirst just as well as water, yet with a bit of added nice taste. It is peach and raspberry water so you'd expect the peach would be the dominant flavour but however I find that there are only really hints of peach whereas you can taste the raspberry a lot more strongly - but both of these are not particularly strong flavours, they are both quite subtle.
The drink is available for about 80p at marks and spencer from the food to go section.
I have a drink problem...no I don't drink too much, I drink too little! We are constantly told we need to drink two litres of water a day, but who does? I don't think I drink two litres of anything a day, juice water or otherwise. I think the problem is partly a rountine thing. Firstly, I've got to remember to drink it, then I've got to find time to do so! The other problem is than when you get part the initial relief of quenching your thirst water gets boring. Most of the time I've found that if you try the flavoured waters, you are getting the flavour and the fluid but compensating by taking in added sugar content, and that means calories!
Trying to be healthy, I was in Marks and Spencer buying a salad for my lunch and noticed that they were giving away free water with every salad purchased. For a start this made buying lunch much cheaper than going next door to Tesco, where I would have paid less for the salad but had to buy a drink on top, and secondly it wasn't just the bog standard water, there were lots to choose from.
I chose the 'Still peach and raspberry water.' Oh well I thought I've saved a few calories by having a salad rather than chips! I can afford a bit of sugar, I'll have a flavoured water! To my amazement though I checked out the nutritional information and nothing. No carbs, sugars, calories.
So it has no calories, It tasted rubbish, right? Well no it's delicious! Delicately flavoured, I'll admit but tasty. I got more peach flavour than raspberry from it and it does state on the bottle is has some added sweetner.
Overall, well done M&S, for giving me free water, which doesn't taste boring and won't affect my GDA. can't complain at that!
