Advantages: A pleasant change

Disadvantages: Hard to find

Bottled stout: everyone knows Guinness. Lovers of stout will also know of Beamish and Murphy's. But who has heard of Marston's Oyster Stout? There seem to be very few outlets where it can be bought.

I can't remember where I first came across it, but I bought a bottle to try and was so pleased with it that I went back to at least six different off licences and supermarkets where I might possibly have bought it - drawing a blank in every one. It must have been on special offer somewhere, and not one of their usual stock lines. Following the advice of a knowledgeable off-licence manager I then tried Hangovers in Norwich, and they had actually heard of it! Not in stock that day, though. On subsequent visits I have always checked, and bought a few bottles whenevr I find it on the shelves, which at Hangovers seems to be about one visit in two or three.

Is it the sign of a good beer that you can only get it occasionally, in a veery few outlets?

Sorry to give this an SU, but I think you could tell us a bit more about the beer itself, what it tastes like, maybe other beers that it's similar to? I realise there's not much you can say about a beer, but just a bit more? :)

Please email me if you upsate the opinion, I'll come back and re-rate. Nice to see another Norwich person on here, I bet I've seen you down the Fat Cat! :)
