... for those who do not know what rose is it might come as a big surprise to find out that this is actually a pink delicate wine. How does it taste? Well first I have to say that it comes from Portugal and the Portuguese sure know how to make good fine wine. This one is basically like light champagne, it is actually slightly sparkly. The taste is light, fresh and fruity. It has an 11% volume of alcohol but you would not think that because of it being a bit fizzy goes straight to your head. All I can say an 100% wine fo...more

Premium Review Mateus Rose: Your Summer Dream (596 words)

Ah… the funny rounded bottle that I remember from the 70’s. When the APs (that’s the Aged Parents… funny how they never appreciated that nickname!) had their cheese and wine parties someone would always turn up with a bottle or two of this This poor old wine has suffered for many years with its dated image, but now it could be making a bit of a comeback… hopefully a more successful one than its ill-fated alcoholic friend Babycham Recently I’ve noticed a few adverts on the goggle box trying to persuade us that mateus rosé is a cool drink. So being a lover of all things pink and partial to the odd glass (or two) of wine I thought I’d give it a whirl. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Perfect for a sunny day! (553 words)

I don't know about you, but my wine decisions are often based on the weather. I have to be in the right frame of mind for a good rose, white or red, adn the sun will quite often provoke me into a glass or two of a good pink wine. Mateus Rose is a wine I distinctly remember from the very first time I ever worked in a bar. We sold it, and it was very popular. This was ab out 12 years ago. Today, the distinctive, dumpy and rounded bottle still sells well, and is instantly recognisable on the shelf. It doesn't blend in so much with all of the other regular shaped wines, and is easily spotted. As such, when I was looking for a rose in my local Somerfield yesterday, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mateus Rose: A absolutely divine wine (262 words)

Mateus Rose is an easily available wine available at Tesco and Asda. It usually costs around £4.34 for 750ml, at this price is a fantastic deal. This wine comes in a pretty unique round bottle with along neck. The design is simple, classic and looks expensive. Defiantly something to be proud putting it on the table. It has an old fashioned feel to it. The glass is a dark green and for those who do not know what rose is it might come as a big surprise to find out that this is actually a pink delicate wine. How does it taste? Well first I have to say that it comes from Portugal and the Portuguese sure know how to make good fine wine. This ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Give me more of it (202 words)

Mateus Rose is a wine which brings me back many memories. When I was younger I lived in Italy for few years, and around the age of 15 we began playing with wine. In Italy parents are permissive about their offsprings drinking wine. Together with my friends, we used to go in the countryside with a few bottles of chilled Mateus Rose in summer. Mateus Rose comes from Portugal and I have always drunk it chilled. It sells for around 4-5 Pounds in Uk, which is more than what you pay in Spain, for example. It has a very fresh bouquet and it definitively ahs some hint of fruits in it. It is a very addictive, and therefore wine and I ...  Read the complete review
