Here's my dilemma. I like nothing more than a cup of real filter coffee first thing in the morning. But at the same time I'm an inherently lazy individual. The though of waiting for the liquid to brew, not to mention the time washing up the cafetier, often makes me think that it's just not worth it. I am forced to turn to instant freeze-dried coffee, a poor substitute at best. Maxwell House Instant Coffee, despite being in this dubious category of pale imitations, does its best to make it up. After extensive research on the subject, and the inevitable sleepless nights, which are an unavoidable side-effect, to think about it, I have found no other instant ... Read the complete review

If you're looking for completist pants containing the history of coffee, expert pouring practices and an illustrated timeline of Maxwell House through the ages then look elsewhere, because I really have only one thing to say to a consumer and this is it: **Maxwell House's powdered instant coffee is bloody revolting** In fact, I would go so far as saying it's the worst coffee on the supermarket shelves. Not that I'm any kind of expert of course, in fact, until I tried this brand I thought all coffees were all pretty similar, some just a little stronger or weaker in flavour so I didn't pay much attention to what I was buying. If ... Read the complete review

Last summer when my local Tesco were doing the promotion for free tea or coffee when you spend over £30, I opted for a free jar of Maxwell House instant coffee granules. Just before the offer began, I had just opened a huge jar of my favourite Nescafe granules, so it has taken almost a year before I have gotten round to opening this freebie from Tesco, which usually costs £3.00 for the larger 200g, however Tesco were givving away the smaller 100g jar. One of my little indulgences when I come home from work every day, is to have a warm, milky coffee, so after finishing the Nescafe jar, I opened this Maxwell house. On the reverse of the jar, it states that ... Read the complete review

I remember at time when Nescafe was the height of coffee sophistication and Maxwell house was the second choice. Times have changed, although we are not as sophisticated as our European neighbours when it comes to coffee choices we still have a massive choice of decent coffee available in the supermarket. I wouldn't normally consider buying Maxwell House, I love Kenco coffee these days but Tesco were giving away free jars last week when you spent over £30. I had a feeling I wouldn't like it but never one to pass up a freebie I grabbed a jar and took it home. I almost ran out of coffee last night. I had only a couple of spoonfuls left of my lovely ... If you are one of those unsavoury characters like me, that gets up in the morning and can't really be classed as a life form unless you have had your caffeine injection, then there is no doubt that you will be able to associate with this opinion. Here is my usual morning ritual: Open my eyes half dead and mumble some unpronounceable mumbo jumbo. Throw one of my trainers at the bedroom window to scare off that annoying sparrow that can chirp for England. Drag my sorry carcass to the bathroom where I proceed to the wash, splash and scrub various parts of my head and body. Shuffle into the kitchen and switch on the kettle. ... Read the complete review
