Advantages: lovely flavour when fresh

Disadvantages: goes stale quickly

This beer has a very distinctive taste and I think you have to get used to it before you can really enjoy it. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

This beer is brewed by Morland and it has a malty, sweet taste. Infact I would almost describe it as tasting of treacle toffee (5.2% proof). It has a faint smell of toffee mixed with hops too. If you are a bitter drinker you should enjoy Old Speckled Hen which is available in Morland pubs up and down the country.

The only trouble with this beer is that it does seem to age fairly quickly and the taste goes off if its kept too long. It turns a bit sour and isn't at all palatable. Make sure the pub has a good turn over of this beer before you buy a pint!
