... and a really full bodied taste, although not unpleasantly so. I find it has quite a fruity aroma too, so if you prefer the bland 'coffee smell' you normally get with instant coffee, I'd steer clear. It's quite a 'strong' coffee, and with one level teaspoon in my mug I found that it was about perfect for me (your milage may vary). The smell tends to fade the longer you keep the jar, but unlike other instant coffees this one retains its strong flavor quite well. It might be a step to far for some of the coffee dr...more

Premium Review Nescafe Alta Rica: Rocket Fuel (662 words)
by - written on 09/02/08 (Very useful, 225 readings)
Rating:

I'm a slow starter in the morning time. I'm always up early enough, (early riser) but in order to get the old brain cells functioning in some sort of logical and coherent fashion, I immediately require a fast infusion of some liquid caffeine. One morning recently I discovered I was out of my favourite 'Kenco Purely Colombian' brew, as it hadn't been available when the local supermarket had delivered our online order the day before. Instead they had substituted it with a brand from Nestle, 'Nescafe Alta Rica'. Ah well, needs must, and as I was busy on the computer that morning I badly needed my fix of caffeine. Having had some bad experiences in the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rich and intense coffee (244 words)

One word... Delicious!!! I am drinking this coffee right now with my breakfast and it has to be the nicest coffee i have ever drank. *About The Coffee* Alta Rica is a Latin American coffee in the Nescafe Collection brand range. Nescafe are obviously very proud of it and state this about it "Meet the darkest roast of NESCAFÉ Collections - Alta Rica. It's rich, bold and smouldering. We use 100% Arabica beans but fully roast them to achieve the intensity of flavour and deep, rounded taste. A bitter, roasty finish makes this a complex and enjoyable coffee. Occasions: After lunch or dinner." *My ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nescafe Alta Rica: Not as intense as I thought! (578 words)
by - written on 15/09/09 (Very useful, 47 readings)

It's not often I drink coffee but when I do it has to be a fairly mellow blend as I simply cannot stomach a lot of the very intense instant coffees available at the moment. So when my friend dropped by with a jar of Nescafé Alta Rica I straight away thought I wouldn't like it as Nescafé tends to be a little too bitter for my tastes, plus the fact that this coffee actually has the word 'Intense' on the jar had me grimacing at the very thought of such a strong beverage. Having drunk a couple of cups from the jar now I am unsure why this is marketed as particularly intense as it has a rather mild flavour in my opinion and is certainly not as strong as other ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fancy a trip to a faraway place? (535 words)

My need for good instant coffee comes from, believe it or not, owning a Tassimo coffee machine. Why, I hear you shout would I need such a thing? Is the Tassimo not producing delicious fresh coffee on tap? Well it is, but having a wife, two kids and a mortgage is one thing, running a Tassimo is another. So basically I use the Tassimo on weekends and for special treats. My everyday coffee not only needs to meet the budget but satisfy my taste buds. Like a lot of things in my life, finding this coffee was a result of a mistake on my part. I actually thought I was buying the Colombian variant which my wife had bought a few weeks earlier. I thought the coffee was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nescafe Alta Rica: Super Expensive but is it Super Nice? (372 words)
by - written on 11/09/08 (Very useful, 69 readings)
Rating:

Alta Rica is a super premium brand of instant coffee made by Nescafe. This brand must be aimed at people like me who enjoy their coffee but are too lazy to make fresh coffee from ground coffee beans. At least this brand proves I am not the only lazy person in the world - if I was Nescafe wouldn't make it! It is expensive compared to other brands of instant coffee - much more expensive than Nescafe Original and more expensive than a regular premium brand like Nescafe Gold Blend even. For example at Asda 100g of Nescafe Original costs £2.14, 100g of Nescafe Gold Blend costs £2.67 and 100g of Nescafe Alta Rica costs £3.37. In fact ...  Read the complete review
