Advantages: Taste great, easy to make, don't make a mess, just the right amount
Disadvantages: Little lumps are bitter (give it a good stir and you won't have these)
Coffee break time - so just thought I would have a quick Nescafe Cappuccino, and then review this great product for us all.
I am a big starbucks fanatic, but as the budget is getting smaller and prices are getting higher I thought I needed to find a substitute. I have always seen Instant Cappuccino in Tesco but have never really wanted or needed to try them.
The other day when I was in Tesco I noticed Nescafe Cappuccino 10 sachets for £2.00 and thought that I might as well give them ago, as it has been a couple of weeks since my last starbucks outing (I was getting withdrawls).
I went home and my coffee break time is when my little one has his afternoon nap, so as soon as he was down I decided to try one of my cappuccino's.
The box that the sachets come in is brown with Nescafe Cafe Menu - Cappuccino written on the front with a picture of a cup of Frothy Cappuccino on, and in the bottom corner is the Nutritional Value for one sachet of Cappuccino (78kcal - 8.1g sugar - 2.2g fat - 2.0g saturates - 0.1g salt). On the back of the box is another picture of cappuccino in a mug and the Instructions for making the drink. On the side of the box is the Nutritional Value in greater details, Ingredients and Nescafe contact information, along with a couple of their other products e.g. Caramel or Skinny Cappuccino.
I opened the box and there are 10 sachets in the box in brown paper which you rip open at the top. Also in the box is a little pot of chocolate powder for sprinkling over the top.
I poured my sachet into my mug and added my sugar (now on the instructions for making the drink it says just use hot boiled water - nothing about milk). I then poured my hot buy not boiling water into the mug and gave it a stir, the top of the cappuccino went all frothy like you would expect and looked a nice golden brown colour, I sprinkled my chocolate over the top and I am ready for the taste.
After letting the drink cool down for 5 minutes I had my first taste, it was actually quite nice better than I expected. You could really taste the coffee and the consistancy was smooth except there was something missing - not sure what.
So after polishing off that cup, I decided I would give it another go, this time adding some milk after my sugar and sachet and mixing it into a paste. I then poured in my water and again onto my next tasting mission. This time the coffee was lovely frothed up lovely on the top, great consistency and this time tasted great.
I have to say, I do not think this beats a starbucks but for a fraction of the cost it tastes great, and there is just enough mixture in each sachet to make a nice mug full.
The only one problem I did come across with this was when mixing I had a couple of small lumps of powder which had not melted and when drinking my drink and had this in my mouth it was very bitter (but this can be eradicated with a good stir)
If you are on an economy drive give up your starbucks and go for these, they taste great, are quick to make and do not make a mess.
Summary: Swap your starbucks for these and save a fortune.
