Advantages: Quick to make.
Disadvantages: Can be a little sickly.
I love a hot drink in the evening especially when it is windy and wet outside so I have for a long time been a fan of instant Nescafe Cappuccino sachets.
The box I have contains 10 mug sized sachets and one 7g tube of powdered chocolate. The front of the box depicts a mug of steaming hot cappuccino topped with chocolate which instantly gets you licking your lips. The front of the box also highlights the nutritional information per mug (74 calories, 8.1g sugars, 2.2g fat, 2.0g saturates, 0.1g salt) with each mug containing a tenth of your recommended daily allowance of sugar you should maybe limit yourself to one or two mugs a day.
The back of the box has instructions on how to prepare the cappuccinos as follows: Pour sachet into mug and add 200ml of hot (but not boiling) water give it a really good stir and dust with the choco topping. So as you can see it is quick and simple to make all you need is access to hot water, simple!
The side of the box has details of the ingredients. The instant coffee with whitener, sugar and topping contains sugar, skimmed milk powder, instant coffee (16%), hydrogenated vegetable oil, dried glucose syrup, lactose, lactose - whey permeate, milk proteins, stabilisers, (E340, E452i, E331), salt. The choco topping contains sugar, coco powder, emulsifier (soya lecithin), flavourings (vanillin), cinnamon). So there are no big surprises there, expect for the salt content. Finally contact details are provided (please see the end of this review).
After adding the hot water the problems start. I find it really difficult to get all the lumps out of the mug even though I stir like my life depends on it. There is always a lump of powder left floating on the surface but around 90% is dispersed into the water. A foamy top is formed on the surface which looks lovely. You then get the option to add a coating of chocolate powder too. I find this is not needed but it does make it look a little nicer.
The cappuccino tastes rich and thick and has real depth of flavour provided by the coffee. The only issue I have is that there maybe a little too much sugar in the mix which can make the drink a little sickly but first thing in the morning I find the combination of caffeine and sugar and good kick start to the day, if not a healthy one.
I would recommend the product to anyone who likes a quick fast warm drink and to those who don't have a coffee machine.
