Nescafe’s Cappuccino by Nestle comes in boxes of 10 sachets for a special price of £1.25 with a small round tube of Swiss Chocolate to use as an extra special topping: -

Each sachet contains 12.5g of instant coffee with coffee whitener and sugar, adding topping according to taste. I certainly prefer to add the chocolate topping as it gives it extra flavour, seems to make it richer, creamier and dare I say it sexier.

I have tried 2 other Cappuccino makes (own brands) but this is definitely the richest, most creamiest and tastiest. Each sachet works out at about 12 ½p per cup but please note that the topping lasts for more than the 10 sachets so can be used on desserts, etc. This tube of chocolate topping is also the easiest to use as it is like a mini salt pot and can be evenly distributed over the cappuccino, unlike the individual sachets provided by the other makes.

The ingredients used are Sugar, Skimmed Milk Powder, Instant Coffee (16%) Lactose, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Maltodextrin, Milk Protein, Salt, Flavouring, Stabilisers (E339, E331). Unfortunately, the flavouring is not broken down but it is clear if there are any e numbers to avoid. Topping contains real Swiss chocolate cocoa solids (35% minimum). The box breaks down the nutritional information per sachet and per 100g. Each sachet is the equivalent of 50 calories and 1.2g fat, so is actually better for you than the own brands such as Tesco which are 55 calories and 2.1 g fat.

There are good easy to understand instructions on each sachet as well as the box, but remember to stir the drink as you are adding the water – as this really makes it a frothy coffee. I really enjoyed this cappuccino instant drink but am unsure if the price will stay the same as the box I got clearly stated “Special Price”, does this mean it will go up at a later date or was on offer?

Overall, this is a good hot drink choice: -

1. Easy to make –
just add hot water
2. Able to use topping on all drinks evenly with no wastage
3. Able to use topping on other items
