Advantages: Tastes Good, Allows you to create great tasting cappuccino from an instant

Disadvantages: If you don't wait for the water to cool before making it it will be very hot

One day last week I was in a bit of a rush to get Jamie to school and forgot to pick up my little bottle of milk that I normally take into work to use for my cups of tea and coffee. Being a bit of a tea and coffee aholic I was feeling pretty agitated that I was going to have to go all day without having my usual caffeine fix, as I don't like tea or coffee black, when I remembered that tucked away deep in the depths of one of my drawers I had a couple of sachets of Nescafé Cappuccino.

I bought my Nescafé Cappuccino in a box of 10 individual unsweetened taste 12.5g sachets but I understand that you can also buy it as a double sachet pack similar to the hot chocolate sachets. As well as the ten sachets of Cappuccino inside the box there is a small container full of chocolate powder which you can sprinkle over the top of your coffee if you wish.

Each sachet is individually packaged in a predominantly coffee brown coloured paper sachet. The top half of the front of the packet depicts an Italian scene with Venice set in the background and a gondola being rowed in the foreground, beneath this scene there is a larger picture which shows off the product by displaying a picture of a full cup of frothy, bubbly cappuccino which has been dusted with chocolate.

The back of the sachet contains a list of ingredients, a pictorial demo of how to make your cup of Cappuccino, details of how you can contact Nestlé if you wish and the best before date.

Each sachet is basically made up with two main ingredients, these being instant coffee and coffee whitener, however, despite being an unsweetened product I was surprised to note that each sachet does actually contain sugar.

Before making your cup of Cappuccino the packaging advises you to boil the kettle and then allow it to cool down to 80°C, I don't bother waiting for it to cool down as I'm inpatient and have not experienced any problems by making it immediately.

Th
e packaging also advises you to use a cup and saucer to make your coffee in to ensure you enjoy the product at its best, as I like a full mug of coffee I always make it in a mug and would not consider it to taste substandard by doing so and have found that it is still as frothy and as creamy as it is supposed to be.

To make your cup of Cappuccino all you have to do is add the contents of one 12.5g sachet to a cup and saucer or mug, then pour on hot water and stir - it is as simple as that. If you wish to add sugar then you can, similarly if you prefer to add a bit of milk to the coffee you can, although it is not strong and is very pleasant without the addition of milk.

Once you have finished stirring the coffee you are presented with a cup full delicious smelling Cappuccino which is topped with lots of creamy coloured bubbles. If you desire you can complete the look by sprinkling a dusting of chocolate powder over the top.

The finished product has a very pleasant aroma and tastes very creamy and frothy, it is a good imitation of real Cappuccino, although it is obviously not as good as the real thing. I don't like coffee to be too strong and I find that the proportion of milk to coffee has been measured well and as a result the coffee does not taste at all bitter or too strong.

I paid 99p for 10 sachets of Cappuccino as it was on offer when I bought it, I believe that the usual price is around £1.50 - £1.80 - not bad at around 18p per cup and certainly considerably cheaper than Starbucks and the like.

For more information on this product you can contact Nestlé by either writing to them at Nestlé Consumer Services, PO Box 207, York, YO91 1XY, by telephone on 00800 63785385 or by visiting their website at www.nescafé.co.uk.

If you enjoy Cappuccino then I am sure you will enjoy this product as it is about as close to the real thing that you can make at home from an instant.

Thank you for reading. <

It's not as good as the real thing, but it's a pretty good alternative. Good op. :)
