Advantages: Cheap, decent taste
Disadvantages: Middle of the range
Nescafe, Nescafe, the only way to start the day. Well think we all remember the adverts, and to be honest Nescafe probably is the biggest instant coffee around and has been for a long time. So what's it like? Dies it deserve to be the best around?
Well for me personally I'm not a big fan of Nescafe original. It says on the jar that it's 'Rich and full flavoured'. I suppose it is, but just does not taste right to me. There are other instant coffee's I prefer to this one. The taste is kind of to rough, its not smooth like other coffee's I have tried. It assaults your mouth rather than relaxing it. It's a very sharp taste that is not horrible, but certainly not that nice.
This is quite a middle of the range coffee, which I suppose is why it's always been so popular. It's not to strong, not to weak, just in the middle. Would have to say it just average, it serves a purpose.
There are other versions of instant coffee that Nescafe do, thinks like the Alta Rica are very nice, and a few other varieties, which are stronger than the original version. I much prefer these to this one.
Each serving contains 1 calorie. So not worth mentioning really, everything else is just a trace of so again not worth mentioning.
A 100 gram jar costs you £2.20, a 200 gram jar costs £4.45 and 300 grams will cost you £5 at Tesco. So the bigger the jar the better the value. And with this being such a popular product you can often find it on offer is you shop around.
So overall this is not a bad coffee. It's not one of my favourites, but its not to expensive, is not to strong or to weak, and most people who drink coffee will be quite happy sipping this. As for the line, 'the only way to start your day' am sorry but can think of several better ways to start my day!
Summary: A good solid instant
