Advantages: Not Bad For the Price.
Disadvantages: Not Great For the Price! There are better cups of coffee out there at similar prices
As a structural engineer with the bottom falling out of the construction industry there has been a lot of time recently to sit around and drink teas and coffee. The brand of coffee which my office stocks is Nescafe original either in the 500g tins or the smaller jars
Why does the office choose Nescafe Original?
Well the reason I believe the office manager chooses to buy Nescafe original is that Nescafe have a strong tradition of producing what is generally considered to be a good coffee.
The management also didn't want to be seen to be giving the staff the cheapest nastiest stuff (What would that do to office morale?) Neither did they want to give us the nicer slightly more expensive stuff and blow the yearly consumables budget on coffee alone.
What do I think?
Based on a cup of coffee with one spoonful of granules and a good glug of milk the offices philosophy actually mirrors my own opinion. Nescafe Original produces a decent, but not great, cup of coffee. One which won't have you raving about is amazing flavour, but it won't have you reaching for the bucket to spit it into either.
I would describe Nescafe Originals flavour as having a mild smokiness
Warnings!
Nescafe seems to have a terrible effect on people's breath or so I have been told and have noticed in the past. Therefore I recommend you keep a packet of mints or chewing gum on stand by.
The foil lids on the tins can be sharp and result in minor cuts to the hands.
I have also got into a terrible habit of drinking about 5 cups a day which tends to leave me with a headache, a furry tongue, slightly jumpy and results in more trips to the toilet than would usually be required.
(I should cut down my coffee consumption but the first step is admitting you have a problem!)
Summary: Produces a Middle of the Road Cup of Coffee.
