Advantages: Taste

Disadvantages: Dunno, I like it

There is a lot of snobbery when it comes to coffee. All those fancy coffee makers and beans with exotic names adorning the kitchens of the not so rich and famous. Not from me though, I just like a cup of coffee. I like instant coffee best, it's quick and easy and, well, instant innit. I've tried lots of different instant coffees, kenco, maxwell house, supermarket own brands that taste like mud ("well it was ground only this morning sir" as the old and very naff joke says).

For me nescafe original has, and always will be, the best. Sure, from time to time I might get the occasional jar of something else for a change, but I'll always return to my first and only true coffee love. Nescafe, for me, has quite a strong flavour. It does what it is intended to do, that is, keeps me wakened when I need it, can't beat the old caffeine hit at times. Sometimes I have sugar and milk in it, and sometimes I have it black and strong. Either way works for me.

I like the taste of it, it is strong and pronounced in a coffeeish way. Oh, and the little foil seal on the top of the jar makes a lovely pop when I burst it with a spoon. Close your eyes and think of that moment, the hovering spoon, the pop, the smell of a freshly opened jar of nescafe original wafting up your nostrils, bliss.

I don't know who makes it and frankly I don't care. I just know that I prefer it to other instant coffees. Why? Because it tastes nice, to me, maybe not to you, I don't know. It dissolves well too, there's nothing more irritating than those granules that just won't go away, floaters. Nescafe doesn't have floaters, it dissapears with a few quick stirs.

My recommendation is to at least try it if you are the only person who has never done so before. That is if you like coffee, if you don't like coffee don't bother trying it, you probably won't like it because it is still coffee when all is said and done. <

Yes, I recommend nescafe original. But then again I recommend trying electric nipple clamps at least once in your life, so you might not want to listen to me. Your choice, but I'd say go for it.

Essential Update

In light of developments I have saw the light and decided to make good the error of my ways by providing some much needed information.

Jar size - Various, ranging from dinky little ones to big massive ones and even individual sachets which can be slipped into your suitcase in hotel rooms. I personally go for the 200g jars for convenience because they fit in my cupboards most readily.

Price - price ranges from free if you steal the sachets from hotels or shoplift, to very expensive if you buy it in Norway or from a filling station shop. The small jars are less expensive than the large ones, but not on a gram per penny basis where buying in bulk works out cheaper. Try a supermarket such as 'ASDA' for special offers like 'buy one get one free'. In my local spar a small jar is currently 99p, but that is subject to change at the managers discretion.

Colour - brown(ish)

Grains per spoonfull - at the top of the jar where all the large grains gather I'd estimate about 1298 grains per spoonfull. At the bottom of the jar where the dust gathers that would of course be significantly increased.

Making it - place a teaspoonful, or more, or less, in a cup/mug/bucket according to taste. Pour on boiling water. Add sugar and/or milk as/if required. Drink. Be careful, it might be burny burny.

It can be drank cold, or hot, depending on taste. It can be drank in Ethiopia, or Manchester, depending on location. It can be drank with or without food, biscuits are a good choice but if you dip them in watch that they don't break, there's nothing worse than bits of soggy digestive at the bottom of the cup.

If you require further info p
lease ask, I consider myself to be something of an expert in the nescafe coffee drinking field. Indeed, I have updated this opinion again for no other reason than to share my nescafe knowledge with a new (although substantially reduced) audience.

I don't think I have as many grains per teaspoonful in my jar as you have in yours. Should I complain?

I too like the taste of Necafe oringinal.

Nice opinion, by the way- the added bits make it seem much more rounded.
