Advantages: Tastes chocolatey.

Disadvantages: Highish sat fat content

I love hot chocolate but the traditional heat the milk add the powder takes too much time and plaaning (and washing up after) so I have been trying out the "just add hot water" varieties to try and find a suitable replacement for the days when I have to have a chocolately drink but heating milk isn't feasible and I think with Aero Instant Bubbly Hot Chocolate I may have found an almost perfect substitute.

This drink is very similar to the others in that you put 4 heaped teaspoons into a mug and then add just off the boil water. You are then advised to stir well to release the bubbles. And if you add enough powder and do give a brisk stir you do end up with a somewhat frothy hot chocolate, more so than with other brands I have tried.

The drink itself tastes chocolatey (not all of them do - quite often its a variation on brown sweetened water) without a strong taste of artificial sweetener. The frothiness lasts fairly well and you can almost identify the flavour as being similar to an aero chocolate bar. It also has a satifyingly creamy taste reminiscent of milk based hot chocolates.

The powder does not, as far as I have noticed, separate out whilst you are drinking and you are not left with a heap of undisolved powder at the end.

This is not a low fat product, as is obvious from the taste, there are 99 cals and 2.5g of sat fat per serving so maybe not for those on a low fat diet. However as a once in the while chocolately treat this drink is ideal.

This product can be brought in boxes of sachets as a take with you option or in a jar containing 12 servings for just under £2 in supermarkets.

Summary: An instant hot chocolate that deserves the name.
