Advantages: Generally good taste for hot chocolate

Disadvantages: You have to vigorously stir to avoid soggy chocolate residue at the bottom of the mug

Aero Hot Chocolate drink - Bubbly and Tasty

We have various teas and coffees at work, but also something that had previously escaped my attention - a box of Aero hot chocolate sachets. I wasn't aware that Aero made hot chocolate drinks, so I thought I'd give this drink a try - and I made the right choice.

What is it?: The Aero sachets contain an instant hot chocolate drink powder mix which is suitable for a hot chocolate in one cup or mug. One difference to standard hot chocolate is that the top layer has a bubbling effect which is reminiscent of an Aero bar.

Packaging: The sachets each contain 24 g drink mix in a easy to open paper/foil sachet. Each sachet is a brown colour with the containing the Aero logo, brown bubbles and a tasty looking hot chocolate.

Use instructions: The instructions are given on the sachet:
"Empty the sachet into a cup or mug, add 200 ml of hot water (not boiling). Stir well to release the bubbles and enjoy your deliciously bubbly hot chocolate drink".

An additional thing that I recommend is that you stir this product for 30-45 seconds to make sure that the solid powder is fully dissolved. It can be disappointing when you get to the end of a hot chocolate and there is a lot of soggy chocolate residue left at the bottom of the mug. Milk is also part of the premix as skimmed milk powder so additional milk is not essential.

Smell and Appearance: After you have added the water (note warm water rather than boiling water), this forms a light brown coloured liquid with a bubbling surface. The smell is quite chocolately and is tempting.

Taste: The drink was generally tasty for hot chocolate. The bubbles slightly consisted of undissolved solids, but the bubbles had a fairly unique and palatable taste that I have not had before when drinking hot chocolate. Beneath the layer of bubbles the middle liquid area was lacking a bit of taste but was still fairly drinkable. The vigorous stirring that I recommended was worth the effort as there was only a small amount of chocolate solid left at the bottom of the mug.

Overall: This is a surprisingly satisfying hot chocolate that is great for a boost to avoid the post-lunch drowsiness.
