~~ COFFEE-MATE, MATE? ~~

I really enjoy fresh coffee and I usually have a Costa Coffee Cappuccino or a Starbucks Gingerbread Latté when I am out and about. But when I am at home I don't usually have time to set the coffee machine up so I settle for a nice cup of Dowe Egbert's or Carte Noir instant coffee granules. Now I hate milk in coffee. For me the two flavours just don't sit right and the addition of milk simply ruins the coffee taste experience as far as I am concerned. I normally take cream in my coffee but for times that I just don't have any, or for simple convenience, I choose Coffee-Mate. I have been buying this for years now and I love the rich, creamy flavour of it. It compliments the coffee really well and helps the coffee retain its heat longer also, giving a delicious, hot, full bodied cup of coffee. -

Coffee-Mate is a fine grain powder that is easily dissolved into the coffee giving it a nice creamy taste. It contains milk proteins and glucose syrup and the taste is a perfect accompaniment to the rich coffee. It's inexpensive and a good standby to keep in the cupboard. Coffee-Mate is made by Nestle, who isn't everyone's first choice of brand. But I think their disputable reputation belongs to the past now and their products are excellent and the quality speaks for itself. The Coffee-Mate product comes in the 200g and 500g size which will store in the cupboard with a shelf life of 2 years. -

~~COFFEE-MATE~~

The product is housed in a basic shape, much like a canned product, though the body of the item is made up of cardboard material. The container sports a gold plastic, airtight re-sealable lid and to the front of the product there is a picture of a hot mug of coffee with the steam rising off it. Coffee-Mate is written in red letters with 'Original' beneath this. Nestle claim that Coffee-Mate makes for a 'Smooth and Silky' coffee. Which I thought was a bit of a strange description; how can a coffee be silky I wonder? The contents of this container are 200g and the approximate cups obtained from this product, are 30. Calorie content is 36 cals per every 6.5g serving and for best performance; this product must be kept stored in a cool, dry place. -

~~INGREDIENTS~~

Glucose Syrup - Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat - Stabilisers - (E340, E452) (E331) - Milk Proteins - Emulsifiers (E472e, E471) Anti Caking Agent E551 - Colour E101 - Sugars 1% - Fat 3% - Saturates 11% - Salt 1% -

~~SUMMARY~~

I find Coffee-Mate to be a perfect flavouring that suits the taste of coffee perfectly. It has a lovely creamy flavour which blends in well and delivers a really nice cup of coffee which is smooth and creamy to the tastebuds. It is convenient, lasts well and is reasonably inexpensive and I was lucky to find my latest purchase in my local £1. Shop, when browsing a few weeks ago. This 200g size will last me quite a while and it is a really useful product which you can also also mix up to serve over a pudding as a cream alternative. It's light and delicious and I recommend it 100% -

I'm a black coffee man myself. Coffee Mate is definately nicer than milk though. Good review.
