Disadvantages: price

When I eat bananas, the potassium tends to make the roof of my mouth sore, and so I get to the point where I can't eat many of them. Despite this, I really like the taste of them, and so banana milkshake is a safe way to get that lovely banana flavour in me!

I am a big fan of milkshakes, but also very aware it's a dangerous ground to tread. There's something about when I was a young boy, and every milkshake was delicious. These days, a lot of them are so rich that it's like drinking single cream, and instantly gives me a headache. Frijj is the perfect example: glu-like consistency and super rich - I don't like it.

And so, I came back to the old school of milkshake and bought a tub of banana nesquick. At around £2 for a 300g pot, it wasn't cheap, but boy was it worth it.

The product is a granulated, sugar like powder which, when added to milk, makes a tasty drink. Personally, one tea-spoon full is barely enough to give a glass of milk enough zing, so two is more like it.

The milkshake it creates is milkshake as it should be: the milk barely changes consistency, but the flavour becomes beautifully sweet: it's not too much, but it's flavoursome. Banana-wise, it's lovely. I find banana is a very cool, smooth tasting drink. It's not overtly powerful one way or the other, but it sure is refreshing.

At 154 calories per semi-skimmed glass, it's not too bad on the waist in moderation. I have it with full skimmed milk so it's even better! There's 0 fat, but 98% carbs, so those on a no carbs diet will have to stay away. It's alo full of vitamins, including lots of Vitamin D, which is a nice bonus.

With no artificial colours, sweeteners or preservatives, it's no wonder it results in a fresher, more appealing milk-shake.

My only criticism is the way that, after around 4 weeks, the powder goes soft and loses its taste.

If you liked it, there are a whole host of other flavours to try in the powder, as well as 'ready make' bottles and cartons available in most supermarkets.

In conclusion, the best tasting milkshake, it's just a shame it costs so much.

Summary: do it
