Advantages: Real chocolate taste, not much effort, good source of calcium

Disadvantages: can't dissolve all the pesky powder

According to my teen the only thing to drink when suffering a throat infection is milkshake - just before christmas I got the lurge complete with raging throat so I decided to try this out - not normally a fan as I seem to exist of a diet of coffee and coffee but I needed something cold to soothe.

Ladies will mainly (hopefully)agree that if you have to have a flavoured drink then choclotate ranks at the top! This milkshake is made by Nestle and comes in a sort of squat looking plastic container which is bright yellow and the words Nesquik in blue lettering beneath a bunny showing off the drink. This currently costs £1.72 for 300g of the chocolate powder which will make about 14 drinks.

It contains around 8% of a childs daily allowance of calories, does not contain any artificial flavours, colourings or any preservatives and is fortified with vitamins - especially vitamin D which helps childrens bodies absorb the calcium from the milk and grow healthy bones.

To make a shake simply pour some milk into the glass (be careful to leave a space for the powder) and add around 3 teaspoons of the chocolate powder. This will vary - a small glass will need less unless you really want a rich tasting drink. Stir the powder into the milk and then drink.

The downside to this drink is that no matter how fast or vigourously i stirred I could not get all the powder to dissolve so I was left with a small amount of chocolate lumps floating in a rather unattractive way on the top of my glass.

However this is a very rich, sweet (but not overly so) chocolate tasting milkshake and is definately one of the most convincing, it has a good benefit for children who won't drink milk because it gets calcium into them without a struggle (providing they like chocolate of course)

Adults and children alike should try it!

Summary: Soothe your throat and grow them bones

there is no information on the tub to state the sugar content so I'm not sure if it is high or not. I will try and find out however as I must admit this had not occured to me (probably because it wasn't included on their nutritional info bit!)

Doesn't this have a huge amount of sugar in it, though? Caroline xx

If you mix the powder with a little bit of the cold milk first, then add the rest of the milk, you can usually get the lumps out.
