Advantages: nice flavour

Disadvantages: calories

I really don't enjoy a glass of milk at any time of the night or day. I add water to skimmed milk when I have cereal in the morning and generally try to avoid it at all costs. The trouble is I know how good it is for me and after recently having two babies in a short space of time, I know my body needs it even more. I thought I'd try to get into a routine of drinking more and when my hubby suggested I try Nesquik, I decided to give it a go just to make it more bearable.

A 300g tub of the powdered milkshake is around £2 and there are lots of added vitamins added to the mixture including foic acid (for all you pregnant ladies out there!). It contains no artificial colours, sweeteners or preservatives.

The powder looks a little like granulated sugar except it has a light pink tinge to it. When you open the pot, a big whiff of strawberries which is always nice.

The instructions state that you should add 2-4 heaped spoonfuls of the mixture to a glass of milk. I think four is a bit much and find that two is enough to taste a strong flavour. All you need to do is stir it up a bit and the powder dissolves within seconds leaving you with a slightly pink glass of milk. When I was little the milk used to be really red but I suppose they have cut out the colouring to make it better.

I have to say that I do quite enjoy this and although my preference would be the chocolate flavour, I find the strawberry taste quite refreshing without being too overwhelming and strong.

I like the fact that you can have it as strong or weak as you want to and that the pot tends to last a long time. I am also extremely grateful that I don't have the problem of being left with loads of 'crud' in the bottom of the glass. I can't stand that and it would probably put me off!

Over all this a great milkshake that is rather low in calories compared to others that you can find on the shelf. I would definitely recommend this flavour but if you don't fancy it then why not try the chocolate or banana one instead.

A 15g serving with 200ml of semi skimmed milk contains 154 calories which I don't think is too bad at all.

Summary: Buy it!
