Advantages: Refreshing, Nice taste
Disadvantages: A bit expensive for a fruit drink, Contains quite a lot of sugar
There seems to be loads of different types of soft drinks that are available these days, ranging from fizzy drinks to more ordinary fruit-flavoured drinks like squash - Oasis is one type of these drinks. Oasis drinks come in several different flavours, but my favourite is probably the 'Summer fruits' one, which contains strawberry, cherry, redcurrant and apple. There is another widely available flavour, the citrus punch one, but I’m not so keen on it. Both flavours are widely available in most shops and supermarkets. The Summer fruit flavour has a dark blue label, with the 'Oasis' logo written vertically in white letters, in a red oval shape. The rest of the label has pictures of strawberries, apple halves, cherries and redcurrants on it. There is also a small part of the label with the nutrition information, ingredients, and other consumer info. The bottle is also clear, so you can easily see inside that the summer fruits drink is a dark red colour. Twisting the cap off, you can't really smell anything once it's opened - it does smell a little of strawberries and apples, but not much else. Taking a sip, it doesn't have a particularly strong taste at first, although the taste of apples and strawberries does hit you in the aftertaste. I couldn't really taste either cherries or redcurrants in it, if it didn't say on the label that it contained these, I wouldn't have guessed they were in it! The overall taste of the drink is fairly sweet, too. It says on the bottle to 'drink chilled', and I agree; it does taste much nicer, and more refreshing when it has been left in the fridge for a while. The Oasis Summer fruit soft drink contains water, sugar, fruit juices (about 5%), and other flavourings and colours. Each bottle of Oasis is about 500ml in size - I don'
;t think I've ever seen it available in any other size bottle except this. A bottle of Oasis costs about 85p, although I have bought it for a couple of pence cheaper in some places. Oasis fruit drinks are also made by Coca-Cola. Nutrition Information (per 100ml): Energy: 157 KJ/37 Kcal Protein: 0g Carbohydrate: 9g Fat: 0g My overall thoughts about 'Oasis Summer fruits' soft drink is that it is a nice, refreshing drink, which is about as nice as any other soft drink I've tasted. The drink is very thirst-quenching, and has a nice, refreshing taste to it - even more so when it's chilled, as I said above. One disadvantage is that it does contain quite a lot of sugar, as is the case with most soft drinks, but I would definitely buy it again. I would say that it is nicer than most fizzy drinks, particularly as it doesn't contain as much sugar. It is also a bit more expensive for what you get, just a simple fruit drink, but it's worth it. If you like fruit drinks, or prefer a soft drink that isn't fizzy, then I would definitely recommend this.

- 26/04/04 I haven't noticed Oasis drinks in the shops for ages. I used to quite like them although I never had a particular favourite. Perhaps I'll have to look a bit harder next time I'm shopping! |
