Advantages: A very smooth brew

Disadvantages: A bit too sweet for me

Obolon is a Ukrainian brewery from the Obolon district of Kiev, they have an enormous range of beers, all of which are available in Ukraine and a fair amount in neighbouring countries, plus countries with a high proportion of Ukrainian workers such as Greece, Spain and Portugal or immigrants such as USA and Canada. A small part of the range is available in the UK and imported by Gary Magan Co Ltd. Unfortunately I'm not aware that Oksamitove is available yet.

Oksamitove means velvet and it's the smooth velvety texture that gives the beer its name, it's a very dark colour - like that of Dandelion & Burdock and has a rich caramel smell to it when poured.

Although I can tell that it's a smooth well made beer, it's a little bit too sweet for my liking but I do believe that this beer would be loved by someone who likes the sickly malt caramel angle of some beers. Oksamitove contains 5.3% alcohol.

Summary: Pretty tasty really!
