This beer draws on Seafaring tradition to name this beer. They have also managed to use cannons as a theme! In old maritime circles a “Gunner’s Daughter” was used for punishment and discipline aboard ship. A short while ago we went to a beer Festival at The Old Poets Corner ~ a pub nearby in the village of Ashover. It was an excellent festival showcasing some local beers and also presenting some form further afield…a great chance to try some beers not usually seen in my area. One of these beers was from a brewery I hadn’t encountered before ~ the beer was Gunner’s Daughter from the Old Cannon Brewery. ~~~THE BREWERY. The Old Cannon Brewery can be found on Cannon Street in Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk.
