 ... Champion Winter Beer of Britain this year at the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Winter Beer Festival, held in February in Burton on Trent. We went there on Saturday afternoon and all the Freddy Walker had sold out (it hadn't lasted beyond Friday afternoon apparently!). I was in a bit of a quandary about how to categorize this following beer ~ I have heard it described as a Barley Wine, an Old Ale, a Winter Ale AND a Porter! The brewery's web site lists it as a Porter, so I thought I would go with that. It is a strong brew that has made it onto the Moor Beer Company?s permanent list of beers ~ Old Freddy Walker. We got to try it at the Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival, held at the end of February in the Technical College in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. ~~~THE BREWERY.
