Advantages: Smells delicious

Disadvantages: Thin in substance, not very tasty, have to stir it for ages!

Around 6 months ago I stayed in a hotel due to having booked tickets to see a show in Birmingham, upon arrival I sat down with a cup of tea and it was the worst cup of tea I have ever had. It didn't even taste like tea so the tea bags must have been the cheapest crap they could find! Needless to say I traipsed off to the end of the road and found a Tesco express, obviously I didn't want a full box of tea bags as they would go to waste as I was only there overnight so in my attempt to find just a few tea bags in a box I stumbled across Options Hot chocolate. The hot chocolate came in very small sachets so I decided that it'd be better to buy a few of the sachets as you can't go wrong with hot chocolate, can you?

The Options sachets look exactly like the picture shown above, they are brown and blue and shiny. Nothing fancy just the logo and the title printed on the front and instructions and ingredients printed on the back. There were many flavours to choose from I chose Belgian choc, Oh la la vanilla and the last one I picked up was a caramel flavoured one. I was really excited to try the hot chocolate as previous to this I had only ever tried store's own hot chocolate and the usual suspects such as galaxy and aero so to me the flavours sounded exotic and intriguing.

Upon emptying out the contents of the sachet I was pleasantly surprised to see that the powder filled the bottom of the cup easily and more. Instantly all 3 sachets, when opened, smelled absolutely delicious. Again when I added hot water the smell was even more tempting and prominent which I loved. I did notice the powder turned clumpy in the water so I used a spoon to help the powder to melt. After a few minutes stirring the lumps were more or less gone but the substance of my hot chocolate looked somewhat watery and thin so I added milk. This helped a little but I wasn't impressed with the thin texture.

To drink the hot chocolate was very standard. The Belgian choc was nothing special it tasted just like store's own branded hot chocolate. The vanilla and caramel ones were also disappointing as the caramel and vanilla didn't come out much in the taste. I was hoping that the hot chocolate would be a lot thicker than it was, too.

Overall, I paid about 40p per sachet so I didn't lose out much from my disappointing find and it was better than drinking dish water tea!
