Disadvantages: Thinner consistency than some chocolate drinks
~Options ~ A warming hot chocolate drink~
I wouldn't say that I am able to drink hot chocolate drinks all the time as I feel I have to be in the right mood to make and drink them, which is why these little Options Hot Chocolate Mini Sachets are so very useful as they can be bought any time and stored safely away, ready for those moments when I want a nice warming chocolate flavoured drink. I find that the small slim pouch type packs that these come in are very compact, making them something that doesn't take up too much room in a cupboard or storage tin/ jar. With these coming in a good variety of flavours I have been able to mix and match the ones I buy, so that I have a varied selection of chocolate based drinks to choose from on tap.
~Using the product~
I have tried many of these drinks such as the Belgian chocolate version which is a nice blend of creamy chocolate that I find neither too dark nor too light. The fact that this one is 40 calories per mug or cup full is something that I feel makes these an attractive option, as they are not overly high in calories when compared to some other chocolate based hot drinks you can buy. They are a little thinner than some chocolate drinks, although you can add in some milk to counteract this if wanted. The Instant Mint Madness sachet is one that I have also found to be an enjoyable drink when I am in the mood for it, as this flavour is one that I feel has a nice rich minty chocolate taste that suits colder evenings.
Other flavours I have tried have included the Chocolate Orange sachet which is really very sweet and rich tasting with a strong orange flavour. The Vanilla Chocolate flavoured drink is one I have yet to try as is the Coconut one which does sound really very tempting. I feel that the beauty of these small sachets really is that fact that you don't need to have a large selection of storage jars, or space to be able to have a few sachets of each flavour ready for use at any one time. The slight downside of this is that these do cost a bit more than if you were buying the full sized product, although there are often offers on these making them £1 for 4 sachets which I feel isn't too bad at all.
As these drinks can be simply mixed up using freshly boiled water and don't need the addition of milk (unless you want a much thicker, more calorific and filling chocolate drink) I find them to be very convenient to use. The sachets are easy to open as you simply tear them open at the top and then pour the chocolate mix in to a cup or mug. To mix them up you then add hot water to the level that suits and mix swiftly with a spoon to give a nice even mix. As I feel these drinks are in the main quite easy on the palate I do buy them from time to time, more so in colder weather when they are quite comforting and warming.
My rating for these is 4 stars as they taste quite good even without the addition of milk and can be kept in storage for some time prior to use as they have long use by dates. They are very quick to mix and make up in to a nice hot drink and usually cost 32p per sachet if bought individually. Each sachet contains 11g of product.
