Options Mint Madness
Advantages: Tastes lovely, Makes a nice change, Available in sachets, Guilt free calories!
When winter and its cold weather arrives, I tend to drink many more hot drinks. I find that I like a nice mug of hot chocolate in the cold winter evenings. I had been using regular bog standard hot chocolate, but I found it was getting a bit repetitive. That was when somebody suggested that I try some of the Options hot chocolates. After browsing the range, I picked up 'Mint Madness' as it seemed right up my street.
A standard tub of this mint hot chocolate will cost you around £3.20 which I think is very expensive. You do get 220 grams of powder within it, but it is still a lot of money in comparison to more budget brands. The good thing however is that Options sell this hot chocolate in a small sachet. Only one use can be made from a sachet, but for only 30p or so it is worth picking up and trying out. I think the sachets are good for using at work or if you want to try out the range of flavours. Although it obviously works out better per use by purchasing the big tub of stuff, but I'd recommend trying the sachet to see if you like it first. These are available in all good supermarkets and retailers.
When using a sachet, I like to use the full amount within it. However, from the large tub, around three teaspoons is just right for me. I then add hot water, but don't quite fill to the top of the mug. This is because I like to add a small drop of milk to my hot chocolate. I know not everybody does this, but it makes this hot chocolate so lovely and creamy and not so sharp in taste. It stirs up quick and easy, and I found this much less clumpy than some hot chocolates when it gathers on the bottom of the mug. This stirred within a couple of seconds and was ready to go, which I was happy with.
The first thing that strikes you is the gorgeous aroma of the drink. As it is minty, it has a strong mint scent - similar to that of an Aero chocolate bar. The taste of this hot chocolate drink is just amazing. It still has that yummy chocolate flavour to it, but the mint really brings out a great flavour. It is not too strong, but just the right amount to combine with a chocolate drink. I was worried that it would be quite sickly, but it is not at all - just really tasty!
A lot of people like to drink hot chocolate when dieting, as it is a good alternative to actual chocolate, as well as being much more calorie friendly. This hot chocolate sure is a guilt free treat as it only contains a mere 38 calories per cup. I think this is fabulous, as it tastes so nice but is still only low in calories - win, win!

Overall, I would really recommend this drink for people who like me, love mint flavoured things. It is a nice twist to your regular hot chocolate, and I will happily buy this again in the future. I would offer five stars to this hot chocolate, but the price of a full tub is a little steep I feel. A well deserved four stars for a great drink from Options. Thanks for reading and hope it helps.
