Advantages: tastes delicious, smells great
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
I've tried many different types of herbal and fruit teas over the years, and most of them have been lacking one way or another. Many smell great when they're infusing in the cup, but taste of absolutely nothing at all. Others leave a nasty tang in your mouth, or develop an unattractive scum on the top after a couple of minutes in hot water. At long last, I've come across a delicious selection of fruity teas to get me through a long day at work, and help me get over my caffeine addiction! **** PACKAGING Twinings Exotic selection fruit infusions comes in a pretty orange box adorned with scrumptious looking pictures of fruit and palm trees. I think it was the packaging that initially prompted me to pick up the box and then buy them, it was a miserable wintry day and the box looked so colourful and summery. The marketing people did their job well! **** FLAVOURS There are four different flavours in the selection: * Pear and Guava A mellow, mildly flavoured brew, ideal as a kick start first thing in the morning. * Mandarin and Lychee A bit of a stronger taste, quite like orange squash, but without all the added sugar! * Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin and Lime Dark pink in colour, very tasty, the grapefruit tang really comes through. * Orange, Mango and Cinnamon My favourite! Surprisingly dark - almost purple - in clour, a really tangy orange and cinnamon taste, truly wonderful. **** HOW TO MAKE THE TEA You remove a sachet from its protective packaging, dunk it in a cup or mug and and add boiled water. You're advised to leave the teabag to infuse for three to five minutes, but I usually leave it for a bit longer than that, as I like mine really strongly flavoured. You can add honey or sugar to sweeten the drink if you like, but I never bother. **** OTHER INFO All
four flavours taste as well as look great, and I like them all, which is a bonus. There's nothing worse than forking out a couple of quid for a selection of teas only to find you can't stand one or two of the flavours, and they end up sitting in your drawer until you change jobs, or clean out your desk (does anyone ever actually do that??) There are 20 teabags in each box, five of each flavour. They cost £1.19 from Tesco. They're completely caffeine free and can apparently be used to make iced fruity teas, which I'd imagine would be great in the Summer. I heartily recommend this selection of teas, I now drink at least two or three a day and do actually feel better than when I relied on coffee to get me through the day.

- 24/03/02 These sound interesting. I used to drink tisanes when we lived in France and my absolute favourite was mint and orange blossom. Very refreshing. |

- 13/03/02 So many of these teas are so bland aren't they? I quite like these ones too. |

- 12/03/02 The pineapple/coconut os nice, but you can't always get hold of it.
Got some in the cupboard. Must use them more.
