Advantages: Very healthy and caffeine free
Disadvantages: Maybe dearer than normal teabags.
THE LONDON FRUIT & HERB Company make a large variety of fruit teabags, which are naturally caffeine free. They are also free from artificial preservatives and free from artificial colours. Each bag contains: just 4 calories; a trace of protein; 1.0g of carbohydrate, of which sugars are 0.4g; a trace of fat; a trace of fibre and 0.1g of sodium. I have always drunk the traditional English tea, ever since I was very young, although I would never have sugar in it (weird really, as I have a very sweet tooth). Before I could explain things properly, I used to tell my Mum that the tea was too hot. So when I still said it was too hot when it was almost cold, they realised that it was the sugar that I did not like in it! I gave up drinking normal leaf tea quite a few years ago now, and I have never looked back. There was no real reason for changing to fruit teas, although I personally think they are very healthy for you. They give you a very clean and refreshing drink. I only drink hot fruit tea, but you can cool it and drink as an ice cold drink, if you wish. There is no need to add any milk (ugh! I don?t like milk anyway.) You just pop the little round teabag into your cup and pour on the boiling water. Leave the bag in for 3 minutes for a mild flavour; 4 minutes for a medium flavour; or 5 minutes for a strong flavour. This is what the infusion guide on the side of the box says, but I like to leave the bag in until the cup is empty! (That could be 5 to 10 minutes, as I have to let it cool so that it does not scold me.) Absolutely delicious!! PACKAGING. The fruit teabags are sealed in a foil bag (20 of them. No strings attached.) inside a cardboard box. This box is silver coloured with writing in blue, apart from the London Fruit & Herb Company name, which is in white writing on a blue rectangle at the centre top of the front and 2 sides of the box. Also on the front, is a picture of
the fruit. This picture also makes a band from the sides and across the back. On one side of the box, the nutrition values are listed (see above), and below this is a list of ingredients in the teabag. APPLE BLISS and LEMON ZESTER are the flavours I drink at the moment. When infused, they each smell and taste of their own fruit. Their ingredients are as follows:- Apple Bliss:- 51.5% Apple Pulp, blackberry leaves, malic acid, flavourings, hibiscus, roasted chicory root, apple juice and rosehip. Lemon Zester:- Apple Pulp, blackberry leaves, citric acid, flavourings, 5% lemon peel, 5% lemon grass, malic acid, roasted chicory root, 2.2% lime juice and rosehip. On the other side of the box, it tells you how to prepare, and lists the infusion guide. On the back, it tells you the benefits?..?A refreshing fruit infusion that can be enjoyed for its revitalising and healthy benefits as well as its deliciously crisp and refreshing taste. Full of flavour and just 4 calories per serving.? The teabags are packed in the United Kingdom. Consumer Services address is:- P.O.Box 8, Moreton, Wirral, Merseyside. CH46 8XF. There is also a FREEPHONE number:- 0800 374100 .(between 9-30am and 5-00pm.) Teabags should be stored in a cool dry place . WHERE DO I BUY THESE TEABAGS? London Fruit & Herb Company teabags are available in most shops. I?ve seen them in Tescos and Somerfield, but not in Sainsburys(as they have their own brand!). I don?t have a local Asda, so don?t know if they sell them. PRICE:- Usually about 89p or 99p for a box of 20 bags. OTHER FLAVOURS AVAILABLE:- Strawberry & Raspberry Swirl; Blackcurrant Bracer; Cranberry & apple; Elderflower & Lemon; Lemon Honey & Ginger; Pink Grapefruit crush; Echinacea & Orange; Camomile & Honey; Camomile Soother; Peppermint Tingle; Organic Peppermint; Fruit Burst Sele
ction; Fruit Punch Selection. Why don?t you all give these teabags a try. Let me know what you think of them. You may find that they are something that you have to get an acquired taste for, so don?t just have one cup, have a whole boxful before you give your verdict. There is bound to be a flavour that takes your fancy, out of the list above. Just think how much healthier these fruit bags are for you, rather than the traditional tea, full of caffeine. Thanks for reading this.

- 04/03/03 Not sure we can get this brand of tea here (Sweden), so you will have to let me try some when I next come over. Have just bought Lipton Honey tea, and that is quite nice, although it's better with milk.
