Advantages: guilt free...

Disadvantages: none!

I'm actually drinking a can of Pepsi Max right now, as I'm writing this review. I'm not sure why I started drinking diet/no sugar varieties of drinks - I think at some point it was a half-hearted attempt to satisfy the notion that I should be being 'healthy' whilst still fulfilling my craving for fizzy drinks (which hasn't subsided, even at the age of 21!)

Whatever my original justification was, however, I can honestly say that even if the original and diet/Pepsi Max versions of the drinks were exactly the same in the amount of sugar etc they contained, I would still choose the latter without a thought, because now I prefer the taste. I can't really identify what it is - perhaps it is that I've 'conditioned' myself, in a way, to find the taste more appealing.

I'm not sure, personally, that I agree with reviewers who suggest they prefer this because it tastes less sweet than other 'diet' or 'healthy' fizzy drinks - to me, it actually tastes sweeter (although I do have a sweet tooth so this isn't a problem!) which is strange. One thing I do agree with is that the bottle is a lot more 'manly' - I recall reading another review which suggested it makes drinking diet drinks more cool, and I'd definitely agree with that - the bottle is a lot more sturdy and its dark colourings take away from the feeling you get with the lighter coloured labels on diet coke and diet pepsi, that they're girly drinks. It's nice to see a drink breaking that stereotype (and if I recall correctly, Pepsi Max came before its counterpart, Coke Zero) and even though I'm a girl, for some reason it encourages me to drink it.

Whatever the reason may be, it's definitely nice to have a "guilt free" justification for something that's supposedly so bad for you - I'm sure it's misplaced, but in my mind, it's totally true!

Summary: I may be kidding myself, but what I've said holds true in my mind!
