I will always be the first to admit that I am one of those people who can DEFINITELY taste the difference between pepsi max and coke. I have done the "official" test where you get little cups of both and I can certainly tell! Although I can detect this subtle difference, I don't hate pepsi at all, I just largely prefer diet coke.

I usually have to have pepsi max when I'm in a pub or bar and it's the standard cola that they serve. I wouldn't normally buy it, except when it's on offer, like today 79p for a bottle (half price!). I think that this is good value, but even at full price it's still quite cheap if you actually like the stuff - so good value over all.

The shape of the bottle in find a little bulbous (the 500ml) and not so comfortable to keep in my hand, but it has good grips on it and the packaging is clear to read. I don't especially like the design but that's more of a personal preference. All of the nutritional values are on the bottle although the last time I bought a small bottle, I noticed that they were quite hard to read.

The taste of this will be just like a normal coke to the untrained pallete, and there is nothing immediately unpleasant about it at all. I do find that it tastes extremely like sweeteners though, and that is enough to induce a headache for me. I also find that there isn't that much fizz and it can also go flat quite easily.

Having just criticised the product, I don't think there is anything overtly offensive about it. It is good value, and if you aren't so uptight about your cokes, then this will cause you no problems!

Summary: good cola in general but not so much for coke only fans
