Advantages: none

Disadvantages: expensive, vile

My name is wigglylittleworm and I am a cola-oholic. It has been about two hours since my last fix. I know it's bad for me and that it makes me fat and rots my teeth but I simply adore it and my attempts to give it up always end in failure after a few days.

My cola of choice is cherry cola followed closely by coca cola. I can tell the difference between coke and pepsi, pepsi is far sweeter and just not as nice but I will drink it if nothing else is available. When I saw Pepsi Raw I simply had to try it. Costing about 90p for a small 250ml can it is more expensive than the other colas out there. Pepsi raw claims it is different from the other colas out there as it is made from sparkling spring water and naturally sourced ingredients

Time to put it to the taste test. It is a deep brown fizzy drink, just like you would expect it to be with a slightly fruity smell. Upon tasting it, it is a really strange taste. The predominant taste is not of cola itself but a strange mix of apple, cola and despite its lack of sweeteners a nasty bitter tang that I would associate with diet drinks. The juice is extremely thick and manages to leave a nasty oily coating in my mouth. It did not quench my thirst at all but actually made me more thirsty as I wanted some water to get rid of the coating in my mouth.

The ingredients in this drink are sparkling water, cane sugar, apple extract, colour:plain caramel extract, natural plant extracts (including caffeine and kola nut extract), citric, tartaric and lactic acids, stabiliser:gum arabic and thickener xanthan gum.

It contains 93 calories and 23g of sugar per 250ml can.

Reading the list of ingredients, it hardly strikes me as being a natural drink and those thickeners sound like something out of a science experiment and account for the thickness ond coating on my tongue. I wonder what the plant extracts are? No doubt if they were something healthy then pepsi would be shouting about it.

The website told me that this was being trialed in a few cities around the country before being rolled out nationwide, I've no idea if it has passed the test in those cities but I bought it in a tiny village in central Scotland and have not seen it anywhere else.

This is a vile drink full of horrible ingredients that I will not be buying again.

Summary: A horrible drink

I havent had Pepsi for years. I used to drink around 17 cans of the diet stuff a day when I was a student and then for years, completely went for the it Max version when they brought it out (even now I cant resist maybe one can of it per month) I have tried this though but Im not that wowed by it. My cola habit was shattered the day I discovered Starbucks in 2000...

I've had it once and agree that it is vile. I'd compare the taste to what I think water must taste like after you've washed your dishes - revolting.
