The best decaffeinated tea available, I reckon (PG Tips Pyramid Decaffeinated Teabags)

Advantages: Not bad, not bad at all!

Disadvantages: It's still not normal tea

My hubby is hypoglycaemic (not sure if I've spelt that right!) which means that his sugar levels (ie energy levels) can be unstable, and things like sugar and caffeine can provoke a sudden drop in blood sugar. He is also a tea-lover, and like me cannot start the day without a nice cup of builders' brew.

So what can he drink during the rest of the day (especially as he hates herbal teas)?

We have tried and re-tried many different brands of decaffeinated tea, and have found again and again that PG Tips' provide the most tea-like version. There is a slight bitterness to normal tea which all caffeine-free teas lack, making it taste almost sweet, an effect which is accentuated by the addition of milk. (This has got to be something to do with the lack of caffeine, and cannot be helped.)

PG Tips Decaff needs to be well brewed to bring out the flavour - I find it's better to nudge or spin the bag around in the mug for a couple of minutes before adding milk (squeezing is just not right!) - but it's worth the wait. My Mum managed to trick my brother into trying it, and he didn't even notice the difference from normal tea!

Summary: Good for hypoglycaemics
