Advantages: Lovely taste, golden colour and the drink of the summer
Disadvantages: too many and the summer becomes a little too hazy!!
When pubs start putting Pimm's back on optics it is a sure sign that summer is justa round the corner for Pimm's is THE English summer drink. The very taste oozes lazy summer days, bright sun and relaxed conversations with friends on warm days. The days have long since passed where Pimm's was only the preserve of the upper classes. on visiting my brother at university I found that nearly everyone drank Pimm's. Mixed with lemonade I found it to be most refreshing, especially when lemon and lime was used adding extra taste. The aroma is quite pleasant and the look of the drink, although similar to an American soft drink in its bottle, dilutes with some clarity into a lovely golden colour in the glass. My brother who works behind a bar has informed me that there are many different ways to drink Pimms but the established ways, and the ones that I know, are quite simple. One shot of pimms in a half pint glass with ice, a slice of lemon and lime and filled to the top with lemonade. Give it a little stir and the flavour and colour will be even. For a pint put two shots in, and do much the same. A little Pimm's stirrer is always a bonus! I prefer to add a little more than this when I make it at home, but then again strength is up to you! I am looking forward to Pimm's tents at parties, the ever-present Pimm's boat at sailing events and the fun of the summer. No longer the preserve of a few, Pimm's can now be enjoyed by the masses, and for such a cheap price, there can be no real excuse.
