“ Manufacturer: Powerade / Energydrinks „
I have recently been going to the gym again. I used to be a real gym bunny though now its a struggle to be honest! I usually take a bottle of water with me and my gym encourages that and in the words of one of the instructors 'Your wasting your money on that muck' and so us that quite like them hide them lol.
I bought a bottle of this actually on the way to the gym and only bought it cos it was in my local B & M store costing 39p and actually that's the only reason I bought it to be honest not because I thought it had magical properties and was going to enhance my performance or anything radical like that.
The bottle is great and well thought out for those of us who do like to train. The drink comes in a see through long bottle that holds 500ml of the drink and the bottle has a see through stopper to the top of it that you can drink out of though this can be removed though does leave you with a rather big hole though and the bottle has engraved lines to it to help with ease of handling of this rather large bottle. The label around it tells me what it is and who is is by and that it contains no artificial flavours and no added preservatives as well as on the back of it ingredients and nutritional charts are given as well as contact details for the manufacturer.
Now this flavour, as far as I am aware comes in two different formats. One has sugar and one doesn't and mine is called Powerade 'Zero' meaning that it is lower in calories and with no added sugar. What is odd about this though is that this is marketed as being 'The first zero sugar, calorie free fitness drink'. Its odd because then when I look at the at a glance nutritional chart and the full one that is also stated this does contain 3 calories per 250ml which means that my 500ml bottle contains 6 calories. I'm not worried about that and gonna quibble but why say it is calorie free when it clearly isn't???
Anyway..... the drink is a lovely rich aqua blue and see through and a flat drink with no bubbles in it at all. It has a rich sweet smell of tropical fruits to it which is nice however it doesn't really taste as tempting as the fragrance suggests!
Its a bit sweet thought not overly so to be fair to it but that sweetness is artificial and to me tastes of sweeteners rather heavily. It is a bit fruity and a little salty in its flavour but I can't guess what the fruit flavour is meant to be. It contains mineral salts which is to replace the salt you lose from your body when working out/training and it is meant to quench thirst which it really does and this is a drink I am happy to consume when I need it rather than actually just sitting down watching tv or something and fancying it.
Its a very watery drink, low in calories and does replenish my fluids quickly. It does not give me extra energy or anything else miraculous and I'm really not all that impressed with the flavour but I wouldn't avoid it either and would like to try other flavours in this range to see if I prefer those in the future!
Available in all good supermarkets etc at around the pound each mark.
This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
As you all know from my other reviews, I do suffer from depression, anxiety and fatigue. To help myself, I do frequently buy Powerade Blue ('Berry & Tropical' flavour) to give my body a boost and for me, it does help to lift my mood and give me a bit more 'get up and go'- whether the effect is purely psychological or not.
This drink is made by the Coca Cola company. They sell in most supermarkets and express stores in the chilled drinks refrigerators for £1.29 each (500ml bottles) but are normally on a 2 for £2 offer. You get a plastic bottle with a built in sports cap. These can be bought individually or as multipacks in supermarkets. The multipacks can work out cheaper so if you like these, and drink them a lot- it is worth checking the deals.
To open the bottle, you just pull off a clear plastic lid (that clicks back on) and then lift the drinks nozzle. You can do this by hand or you can use your teeth (with care obviously!) if you are running for example- as this is marketed as a 'sports' type drink so it is designed to be drunk on the go. Once you have 'activated' the spout, it is easy to drink from by sucking at the multi-hole sports cap.
This variety has one of those berry tastes which is a bit hard for your brain as it is bright blue. I know I always have issues with fruity tasting things that are blue as my brain does not seem to like that BLUE = BERRY. The taste is similar to that of a cordial- with only 16 calories per 100mls it is a less sweet and sickly alternative to coke or lucozade.
*What is in it?*
The main selling point of this drink is it is supposed to replenish the minerals you lose in sweat. So, this drink contains: Calcium (good for teeth and bones), magnesium (your cells need this), potassium (normally found in bananas) and sodium (you need sodium to function).
The drink is designed for people who are active and who need to the hydration as it says on the bottle "Powerade ION4 hydrates better than water". In my case, I have to take medication for my depression and one of the unpleasant side effect is night sweats (i'm not menopausal- it is a meds side effect!) - so I drink this if I am feeling washed-out as I think it will help 'put back in' some of the minerals I may have lost.
The Ingredients listed include: water, glucose, fructose, citric acid, mineral salts, flavourings, stabilisers, sweeteners (including sucralose and acesulfame K) and colour (brilliant blue).
All in all, these do not sound all that 'healthy' but this is supposed to be a replenishing drink- an alternative to Lucozade (that states on the bottle it is NOT good for replenishing lost fluids) or Coke. I suppose the closest alternative to this would be Lucozade sport - less sugar than the original Lucozade but this as far as I am aware does not contain the minerals that this product does.
3.9g carbohydrates (3.9g sugar)
I do like this product as I like the idea that it is replenishing some minerals such as magnesium and potassium (both are supposed to ward off heart attacks and strokes) that my diet may otherwise be lacking in. The taste is pleasant and it is not full of sugar- and does not just contain loads of stimulants like caffeine or guarana/ taurine that I can be sensitive to.
If you work out or feel run down, I would recommend trying this.
I dislike most energy drinks, Lucozade makes me feel sick, Red Bull tastes what I imagine battery acid to taste like, and monster just tastes like sugar. Powerade Berry and Tropical flavour I could drink all day every day - it tastes wonderful!
Powerade is an energy drink developed by scientists to hydrate you when taking part in sports and exercise. It contains ION4 which claims to hydrate you better than simple water does, helping to replenish fluids and 4 of the minerals lost through sweat, as well as carbohydrates for longer performance. Now I dont take part in many sports activities so I cant really comment on its performence here, its my drink of choice the morning after a bit of a drinking session. I always feel horribly dehydrated the next morning but a bottle of this sorts me right out, and I can definitey feel its effects. I feel much better almost instantly after drinking, and it cures any hangover headache better than any paracetamol can.
My favourite thing about this energy drink though is the taste, whereas others are fizzy and taste as though they are full of sugar, this one tastes like water with a light and refreshing tropical berry hint to it. I love the taste of this so much that I often drink it just as a regular drink during the day - its very very refreshing and when ice cold it is delicious. a 250ml serving also contains only 9.8g of sugar, which is only 11% of your daily amount, along with 40% calories - which is only 2% - so you can see this isnt going to rott your teeth when drinking it or give you a quick fix solution of a sugar rush like red bull.
You can buy powerade from most shops now and its retails for around £1 - £1.50 depending on where you buy it from,so around standard price for a bottle of pop - you get a 500ml bottle for this price so you definitely get your monies worth!
Overall I cannot recommend this energy drink enough, it is definitely the best one out there! It tastes refreshing and delicious and really works to rehydrate your body and restore some of those lost minerals. It also comes in several other flavours, although I have never tried them as I love this one so much!
As a keen sportsman and sports coach I recommend Powerade products to my team mates and also the players I coach.
- As with most of these energy drinks is they provide rehydration and also energy for improved performance. This Powerade does this as well.
- Still. As opposed to some energy drinks this is still, not fizzy. Therefore better for use before and during participation in sports.
- Taste. This variant, mixed berry, is great tasting while not overpowering. Also its a different flavour compared to a number of their competitors who seem to make standard orange and citrus variants.
- Recycling. The whole bottle is able to be recycled. Great for the environment.
- Price. Around £1 a bottle, look out for deals. If bought in powder form direct from Powerade then can save money. Otherwise its more expensive than water and doesn't justify the price.
As opposed to most other energy drinks I highly recommend these still versions of Powerade. They aren't full of calories, they aren't fizzy, they taste great and give an extra boost of energy to boost performance!
Highly recommended to any sportsmen and remember to look for the deals.
I jog quite often as running is by far the simplest and cheapest exercise there is. You just have to get some trainers and go and get fit. Also the amount of calories you burn doing this exercise is a lot, and with them, you also lose water and some essential minerals your body needs to be balanced.
That is the reason why after jogging, just hydrating with water is not enough, water is all right to recover the liquids you lost, but not the salts, minerals and sugars your body needs. Then what to drink to replenish these crucial elements? The answer is powerade as it contains the essentials, plus if you drink it cold you will find it very refreshing.
Personally I find the bottle design very convenient to hold in your hand while you jog. That is a very important factor, so that you can keep hydrating drinking small sips throughout the whole exercise, instead of drinking loads after you finish which is not the healthy way to do it.
The flavours don't correspond to what is advertised but they are all quite sweet and a bit chemically. They aren't disgusting though and are sports drinks so they have other uses. Although if it is not cold enough, you might find it a bit sickly.
Powerade is aimed at sports people who need something to keep them going. However, I am not a sports person!
Powerade is available to buy in various different flavours, this one is the blue bottle which is a fruity flavour. The drink is coloured blue, which I would describe as an icy blue shade. The drink comes presented in a plastic 500ml bottle with a "sports cap" that you simply flip up to drink and flip down again to store. The blue colour of the drink can leave your tongue looking blue for a short while after drinking so just be aware of that!
I would describe the taste of the drink as quite smooth and fruity. The drink is a STILL drink, it is not a carbonated drink. The drink does taste quite sweet but it doesn't taste sugary sweet like some sports drinks. It just tastes quite smooth and it's very easy to drink. The best thing about this drink in particular is that it's very hydrating. This drink not only quenches my thirst but it leaves me feeling hydrated and it takes away the dry feeling that I get in my mouth when I am desperate for something to drink.
The drink goes well without food as the still formula doesn't bloat me up and it never leaves me feeling uncomfortable. It also helps to wash down my food.
The drink also gives me a burst of energy. It's a great drink for when I need something to pick me up.
A very hydrating sports drink.
I like to have a sports drink with me when I am playing Sport and Over the past few years I have used Powerade more regularly than any other brand. Like the other major brands in the market, Powerade feature a number of flavours, Including this Berry and Tropical Fruits drink are Cherry and also Orange but there are other flavours in the different varieties of Powerade. I have been playing more Football over the summer so I have used the drink quite a few times over the past few months and it has worked well all those times. So here's my review. The drink is widely available and you can find some great offers on the individual bottles and packs as well.
Everyone knows that it is important to keep yourself hydrated during sporting activity and the drink is designed to give you the best possible replenishment. Powerade is an isotonic sports drink developed by scientists to help you perform at your best for longer. The drink contains the ION4 advanced mineral system which has been designed to help replenish the minerals lost in sweat to keep you performing for longer. Powerade contains water and minerals for effective hydration and carbohydrates for replenishing the energy that your body loses during exercise.
Whilst the taste is not the most important thing in the whole scheme of things it is of course important as you wouldn't use something that you didn't like the taste of, at least not regularly anyway. This however is a rather pleasantly tasting fruity drink. The berry and Tropical fruit taste is nice cold and makes the drink easier to use. Like other similar drinks it gives the best results when cold so take it out of the fridge or freezer if you don't have a lot of time just before you go off to exercise and then it will work best and give you excellent hydration so your mouth doesn't get dry as it can with strenuous exercise. The other flavours are nice too.
So here we come to arguably the most important part of the drink, how does it work?. I have had great results with this drink. I have noticed a difference in the length of time I have been able to continue to play before needing to stop. Without a good drink like this you can feel rather hydrated after a game of Football or a gym session so it is important to replenish lost liquids. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to step up their activity or if you have had relatively limited results with just water or another sports drink then give this one a go. So in summary, It tastes nice and works rather well to keep you going longer than the proverbial Energizer Bunny.
Powerade Still Berry and Tropical Fruits is an isotonic sports drink with sugars and sweeteners. It claims to have an advanced mineral system that hydrates better than water and also allows you to perform at your best for longer.
The drink flavour is quite light and tastes quite watery with a light berry and tropical fruit flavour. The liquid itself is blue with no added preservatives. I like the flavour of the drink, its just a nice neutral flavour that you can easily guzzle down. It just reminds me of slightly flavoured water which is quite nice and light.
Powerade is manufactured by the Coca Cola company. Apparantly it has been developed by sports scientists to help replenish fluids and 4 vital minerals lost during the sweating process.
The 4 minerals it claims to replenish are:
On the bottle it says its an official sports drink with the Olympic logo and GB symbol. Not sure if that means its a sponser for Great Britain in the Olympics but it adds to the appeal.
The bottle design is quite nice. It has like a sucky bit on the end that you can pull out to expense the drink. When you have finished drinking you can push the sucky bit in to conserve the drink and save it for a later time.
A 500ml bottle cost me £1.15 from my local shop. I think this is quite a high price for a drink of its kind but most sports drinks seemed to be priced at around that mark.
Overall I would recommend this drink to friends. Its one of the main drinks I buy at the minute. It seems to do a good job of quenching my thirst and tastes ok albeit a little pricey.
~Also on Ciao.
This isn't really a drink that I've ever had before today, but I fancied a change and decided that I would get some after trying some of a friend's the other day and liking it. I normally just drink water and while that is alright for when I'm just basically thirsty it's a bit boring if you've got a choice.
Even if I did not drink it because of this, this drink is a sports drink and this is reflected in the packaging. You can't get it in cans, only 500ml bottles. The bottle has a sports cap for easy access so you don't have to keep taking the cap off although this means if you want to keep it in your bag and drink throughout the day then you'll have to make sure the cap is definitely pushed down properly to avoid spillages. It is a clear bottle and it has grooves up the side to make it easier to hold whilst doing sport. The powerade logo is displayed and all the relevant nutritional information is very clearly displayed although it does annoy me that the nutritional information is per serving, a serving being 250ml and I would never only drink half a bottle of something!
It is made by the coca cola company who make famous products such as coke, diet coke, sprite, fanta and many more. It is supposed to be a sports drink because it is 'isotonic' and looking at the back of the bottle it does have quite a lot of sugar in so I suppose this is why. It seemed like quite a good energy drink so I may actually use it as one next time I'm doing sport, I just drank it because I like the taste. If you're not using it as a sports drink though its not really very good nutritionally - one bottle has over 20% of your recommended amount of sugar in it. It is very refreshing though, with it not being fizzy it seems sort of easy to drink when you're thirsty. The taste is what made me buy it, its really lovely and quite unique to anything else. Its tropical and berry flavoured so quite a fusion, the only thing you could really compare it to would be fanta fruit twist but even then its different flavours. I bought mine for £1.15 from the co op but you can get them a lot cheaper and also in multi packs.
I dont like drinking blue things. I think it looks wierd, like drinking a cleaning product. But this flavour, berry and tropical fruits , was the first flavour that I drank.
This is cococola`s verison of an isotonic sports drink. The market for these drinks is expanding, so it was understandable that Coca-cola got in on the act and id say it was designed and marketed to directly compete with Britvics own Gatorade brand. You`ll see the olympic rings logo on the bottle as cocacola obviousy batered their way onto the olympic sponsorship scheme.
Nutritional Information Per 100ml:
24 Kcals of energy, no protien, Fats, fibre or saturates
5.6g Carbohydrates (3.4 are sugars) and 17grams of sugars, which is where the majority of the energy comes from. It also has 0.05g sodium and some 0.5 milli-grams of potassium, Electrolyte replacement comes with Vitamin E 0.8mg`s, Niacin 1.1mg`s, Vitamin B6 0.14mg`s, Biotin 0.009mg`s, Pantothemic Acid 0.38mg. There are 120 calories in this drink, not very juch at all.
It a still drink and It does stick out on the shelf due to its bright blue appearance. But there are other flavours, cherry and orange and there is also a Powerade aqua variant which focuses on better rehydration and less electrolyte replacement.
The bottle design holds 500ml of fluid, and is the usual hourglass grab and go design. The sipper is easy to use, you can easily use it when running or cycling etc.
Personally I thought the the artificial colouring mad ethe taste a bit too sweet, and sickly, not much mind. It tastes better cold, rather then room temp. There is a very slight bitter after taste. Generally its not that bad, but I prefer the taste of gatorade out of the two.
You can get this very cheap normally 2 for around £1.70 / £1.60 and you can get a four pack for £2.80, which is generally cheaper then gatorade or lucozade sport.
Having found that my local Asda had run out of Lucozade sport (my staple for any gym session), I decided to take the next sports drink on the shelf...Powerade Isotonic. What caught my eye initially the fluorescent blue colour of the berry and tropical fruit flavour. I bought the 4 pack which was on offer for £2, which works out as 10p per 100ml.
It's difficult to describe the taste of it, and even more so to try and differentiate the various "tropical fruits and berrys" flavours it contains. There's definitely orange and pineapple in there, but apart from that it's hard to tell. It's sweet to taste which does seem to linger in your mouth for a few minutes. The flavour is definitely not as strong as lucozade sport, and this may well be due to it being more dilute.
It contains 4 e numbers which is particularly disappointing in a drink aimed for sports enthusiasts. The colour of the drink comes from the e number 133, which is rather ominously described as "brilliant blue FCF". It certainly stands out, and will certainly grab your attention.
The most important thing you'll want to know is "does it keep me energised". Well the answer to that is.....somewhat. It's certainly better than water or other diluted fruit juices, but I find that both Lucozade and Gatorade keep me feeling refreshed and stimulated for longer.
The best thing about Powerade is the bottle. It is just slight shorter than a coke bottle and is slightly ridged to help keep grip of it. It fits nicely into your hands and can squeezed slightly if you want to take a larger gulp. It features a pop up sports bottle lid which allows you to take a few quick squirts whilst on the go. I certainly prefer the pop up sports lid over the sports lid used in Lucozade as it's more convenient whilst in a gym.
All in all this sports drink is a bit disappointing, whilst the bright blue colour might stand out, the flavour lacks any real substance.
Water is so yesterday. Nowadays when you go to a gym or a sports shop, sports drinks dominate the shelves and are touted as the new way to refresh yourself during exercise. I have to admit that even though I love water and drink quite a fair bit during my day, I do like a taste to my drinks and love the sports drinks from Powerade.
Powerade is a sports drink manufactured by the Coca Cola company. It is actually classified as an isotonic sports drink. After looking up the actual definition, an isotonic drink is, "a beverage designed to help athletes rehydrate, as well as replenish electrolytes, carbohydrates, and other nutrients, which can be depleted after training or competition."
I feel this drink is really targeted towards people who are competing in sports, athletes etc, because of its formula and talk about how it hydrates during physical activity on their website. I think this is quite good that they have actually researched the product properly because the consumer can be safe in the knowledge that the drink is actually designed to do something and that it will work for you.
Powerade was actually made the official drink of the Olympics way back in 1994 so they obviously see it as a great drink for athletes.
The drinks themselves comes in a plastic bottle with a sports top lid that opens and closes easily so it is quite handy when you do go to the gym. The bottle is designed as well so that it dips in the middle so it is easier to hold I think than other bottles such as regular Coca Cola bottles. The berry & tropical fruit flavour has a liquid that is a bright blue colour. It has quite a sweet taste to it but it is also nice and fruity and doesn't really leave an after taste in your mouth. I would say it is quite a smooth drink and goes down well unlike some other sugary sports drinks. The drink itself does have some added vitamins such as B3, B6 and B12.
Individually the cost of Powerade will soon add up and its much easier to purchase in bulk, therefore my quest took me to an online source http://www.energyshack.co.uk where you can purchase this stuff and get it delivered straight to your door, saving time and petrol, as it's much easier to stock up on this stuff.
I personally feel this drink is also great during summer, when out and about, instead of water this drink just has that something about it that makes it more fun than water, but overall a great drink for athletes and the like and one I definitely recommend to everyone.
So this heat , playing sports is a horrible thing and keeping refreshed is definatley the order of the day. Unfortunatley I didn't have my usual bottle of water so reverted to buying a sports drink.
Having never tried Powerade and fancying a change from Lucozade I picked this up in ASDA for 97p , a little cheaper than its competitor.
It has a cool black cover with big blue lines , It kinda resembles the design of the Addidas football boots. Seeing as this is the official world cup drink and addidas is a big sponser , could it be coincidence.
So the bottle has a downward indented grip on the sides making it easier to hold on to and the top is a pull up sports cap, letting you get the energy quick so you can keep going.
The bottle is 500 ml which provides a good amount of drink and I definatley felt refreshed after.
Now although this is berry and tropical, there is no mention of this in ingredients , just healthy additives and sweetners. Plenty of E numbers too keep you going.
The taste starts off witha berry twang before a incredibly small peice of tropical arises. The taste is pretty poor really and I think its the work of the chemicals that were making me feel ready to go.
In the competition of sports drinks I would heavily stick with lucozade sport, it tastes nicer, is more healthy and does seem to refresh better.
Overall not overly impressed.
Powerade is an isotonic sports drink that is designed to re-fuel and re-hydrate you before, during and after exercise. The Powerade brand is owned by the CocaCola Company.
Coming in a variety of flavours including Berry and tropical fruits, orange and cherry, there's one that will tantalise your taste buds. In the United States, there are 8 flavours but there are plans to release Powerade 'Zero' which will be different flavours, such a Lime, but contain less calories; meaning you get the most out of your exercise session. My personal favourite is the Berry and tropical fruits, which is blue in colour.
The drink comes in a plastic bottle which you can grip easily - it's slightly curved to mould to your hand (well, that's what I think, I could just be talking rubbish here...). Etched into the botton of the bottle is "POWERADE". This is done twice and shows up when you have the drink in there. To me, this adds a quaint touch to the drink. The wrapper that shows the nutritional values is black, with white font, but the 'powerade' logo has a blue glow around the outside of it, which adds a little effect and catches your eye. I dislike the sports cap on the top of it as you have to pull it up, whereas on the Lucozade bottle you flip it up and drink. That's my personal preference, though, nothing that should deter you from purchasing the drink.
Powerade comes in a 500ml bottle and you cannot buy any larger or smaller, however I believe this is perfectly fine. You can purchase a multi-pack of four bottles which can be a little cheaper from the main supermarkets.
One 500ml bottle costs £1 in Sainsbury's and this is the going rate in most shops I've been in to. There is an offer on at the moment whereby you can purchase two bottles for £1.30, equating to 65 pence per bottle. This is good value for an energy/rehydration drink, although I feel that if you've got to pay £1 for half a litre of coloured, mineral infused water then you're paying too much.
If you have any of the 'discount' stores in your town, you may find a bargain. I went into one last week and, to my surprise, they were selling Powerade! I went over and I was in utter shock: the multi-pack of 4 bottles was on sale for ONE POUND. I quickly purchased 4 of these as I didn't know how long they'd be on for. Needless to say, when I visited yesterday, the prices had been swiftly increased to £2 a pack. Still, that's a good bargain.
Powerade is available in most supermarkets and corner shops. Its main rivals are Gatorade and Lucozade, two of the other well known energy drinks on the market. However, for me, it's extremely close between Powerade and Lucozade as to which one I think is best. It completely blow Gatorade out of the water, that's for sure.
In terms of nutritional values, I won't bore you to death with stat upon stat. Instead, one bottle will provide you with 100kcal which is extremely low for an energy drink - just 5% of your RDA (based on a 2000 kcal diet). There's no fat in this drink but there is something alarming about one a 500ml serving of Powerade. There's EIGHTEEN grams of sugar contained within the drink, which is 20% of your RDA (again, based on a 2000kcal diet).
The taste of the berry and tropical fruit version isn't too weak, yet it's not to strong. It's quite a sweet drink, probably down to all the drinksa refreshing drink after you've played sports, or indeed just as a drink, it certainly does rejuvenate you! By replenishing the fluids you've lost, you'll feel back to your best in no time at all.
You may have seen the latest Powerade adverts that star Wayne Rooney. The message they're trying to portray is that if you drink Powerade, you'll become a better athlete. When I'm playing football, it certainly gives me a kick and keeps me going, enabling me to roam up and down the pitch. Does it improve my technique like the advert suggests? No, of course it won't! As I've said though, it re-fuels you so you can complete the whole match.
Powerade is the Official Sports Drink of teamGB and also the worldwide partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games! They are also 'sponsors' of the Football League and the England Rugby team.
I would recommend the drink to anyone who wants to play sports. If you're looking for variety, rather than the addictive, sugary orange Lucozade which seems to swamp the sports drink market. The flavouring of this drink is excellent and I would suggest that you try the drink, especially if you can find it a little cheaper.
Thank you for reading my review, if you've got any suggestions as to how I can improve or anything I could have written about, let me know. :)
I am not a sports person (apart from riding my horses) but I have been buying this for a while as I like the taste. I bought 2 bottles in Asda for £1.60 but it normally sells for 90p per bottle.
The berry and tropical fruits flavour of Powerade is bright blue in colour and is made by the Coca-Cola company. The drink is aimed at athletes as the electrolytes in the drink are meant to help provide maximum hydration and optimum performance.
It is an isotonic drink. I didn't really know what that meant so I looked it up. "Iso" means "equal", and "tonos" means "pressure" in ancient Greek. The drink contains a small amount of carbohydrates to give extra energy and sodium. The sodium is the important part as it is in the same concentration of sodium as you get in blood plasma. As the sodium is absorbed into the blood from the small intestine it takes water with it. This helps replace the sodium lost through sweating and also reduces the amount of water excreted from the body (yukky sweat).
Powerade is being used at the 2012 Olympics, the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa, the RFU, the WRU and is the sponser of the football league.
A 500ml bottle contains a suggested 2 servings. Each serving contains, 50kcals, 9.0g of sugars, 0g of fat and 0.3g of sodium.
It was the colour that initially drew me to the drink. It is really bright and so different from everything else on the shelves. The open and close cap is really easy to use and better than a screw top in my opinion. The drink is really refreshing, especially if you drink it straight from the fridge. It has a lovely fruity taste and the after taste is fruity rather than sweet. I do think that it is quite high in sugar but it doesn't taste overly sweet. I think that Coke etc taste sweeter than this. As Powerade is a still drink, it is easier to drink than fizzy stuff. This is one of my favourite drinks and I prefer it to fizzy drinks.
