Advantages: Energy,, easy to take down, not a nasty taste

Having recently had the Cherry flavoured Powerade and loving it's adult Cherry-ness that seemed unrivalled in a sector that doesn't seem to have grown in Britain as perhaps it should have done. I felt I'd give the bright blue coloured "berry" version of the drink a shot and just see whether or not it was as good as it's red brother. The colour, as you can tell from looking at it is obviously fake (and for those who care, it's E133) and for those looking to stay away from none natural additives this may rule the drink out for you already. Although it will, understandably attract children, as all bright things do, it's not actually what I'd class as a children's drink in the same vein as something like Coca-Cola perhaps is.

Isotonic drinks, are seen as an energy drink, that as well as re watering the body all replenish the used us nutrients and minerals that are lost during exercise, mainly through sweat. This is different to the other 2 types of "energy drink" which are based around 1 major ingredient each, we have the Caffine energy drinks, that are things like Rockstar, Relentless and of course Red Bull and we also have the Glucose based ones most famously Lucozade. They both focus more on direct energy whilst these look at being more complete sporting drinks.

The drinks bottle plays on the idea of being a sporting drink by having a bottle which has solid and sturdy grips to hold onto, and it won't be slipping out of warm sweaty hands due to the grips. It also has a "sports top" which are things I'm not a fan of but they do seem to be popular now a days and are almost the only sort of a top used on this sort of a drink.

So onto the actual drink, and it's radio active blue hue of a colour, for those that remember having blue ice lollies as children this tastes faintly similar, despite claims of it being berry and tropical fruit flavoured it tastes a little artificial and sweet. I say a little as in all honesty it also taste quite watered down and weak in comparison to most drinks sadly and the flavour is quite faint and what you'd expect of a home brand drink not one put out by Coca-Cola. It's not a great taste however the drink is really easy to down, and I can't complain at that sort of a quality.

Despite it's ease to swallow I do have a long standing problems with sports bottles, I don't like to turn my head at 90 degrees to my body (so I face upwards) to drink. I'd rather turn my head 45 degrees, I find if I try that with sports bottles I struggle to drink from them often getting more of the air from the bottle than the liquid.

Overall I think I'll get a bottle of the cherry version next time, as despite this being drinkable it never really had any of the qualities I think things need to make me want to buy them again. It was eye catching but weak, easy but nothing that made me think wow.
