Provamel Rice

Description: A light and refreshing low fat drink made from filtered water and organic rice. Milk and soya product

Newest Review: ... result. You must always allow tea or coffee to cool slightly before adding Provamel Rice as it tends to separate and turn nasty if you don't. In our house we mostly use it for pouring over cereal which is fine. So, what is it actually like? Well, firstly it's not as white in colour as the picture on the box would have you believe! It's slightly grey looking and quite watery. It tastes quite ... more

Premium Review Provamel Rice: An Alternative Alternative! (370 words)
by - written on 25/06/09 (Very useful, 42 readings)
Rating:

Provamel rice is a dairy milk alternative made from a blend of water and rice with added vitamins and calcium. We use this and soya milk in our house as my husband has problems with dairy products, they make his eczema flare up badly. Although I am able to tolerate dairy products, I often use his rice and soya milks as they are in the fridge...usually when I have run out of cow's milk though! As with all milk alternatives, please don't try this expecting it to be just like using cow's milk. It can be used for cooking and in hot drinks, but you will get a different result. You must always allow tea or coffee to cool slightly before adding Provamel Rice as it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Why I Rate Rice Milk (568 words)

Rice milk is part of the arsenal of milks that vegetarians and vegans use in their daily bid to cook and eat without dairy products. It is also used by those who are lactose intolerant. Why Rice Milk ----------------- Soya is a fantastic protein and soya milks have improved in taste and consistency tremendously over the years; I love soya - but I am slightly wary of using it constantly. Soya is a phyto-oestrogen (a plant hormone) which will impact on the body - often favourably - especially with post menopausal women. It has been allegedly implicated in thyroid complications because of the hormonal element. I discussed this with my ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Provamel Rice: My First Choice Alternative to Dairy Milk (199 words)

I am intolerant to both lactose and soya and Provamel Organic Rice milk is my favourite non dairy alternative- it isn't my first choice because it tastes any different to the other rice milks I have tried, or because it is Organic, but mainly because it is 96p for a one litre carton in Sainsbury's and that is 41p cheaper than any of the alternatives- that adds up to a lot of money over the week. Provamel rice milk mainly consists of water, rice and sunflower oil. It can be drunk cold, added to cereal or used in hot drinks, (as long as you allow the water to cool before adding it). It is 122 calories for a 250ml portion, has no cholesterol and is low in fat. It should ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Best Rice Milk (335 words)

After being advised that following a dairy free diet may be of some help to my asthma i looked into finding a dairy free alternatives for most of my day to day items. First on the list was obviously milk! I first tried soya milk, which i couldnt palate and still have trouble drinking even now after years! I then looked to rice milk instead. The Packaging: The non-organic version (it is the organic version pictures above) comes in a purple carton and has the provamel logo on top and then a picture of a glass of milk being poured. It is very clear that this is rice milk because not only does it say "rice" but also has a picture of a grain of ...  Read the complete review

Background *************** I recently had a relative staying over who had suffered a heart attack in the last couple of years . Asking if there was anything particular he fancied or required to eat or drink he asked if I would buy some Rice Milk . Now over the years I have tried various milks including Soya milk but had not tried Rice Milk . So there you go , that is why I bought it , and here is what I found . I purchased a one litre carton of Provamel Rice Milk for about 90p . It came in a lilac carton with a refreshing looking glass of milk on the front . Having bought it I thought I would give it a try also and I have since been ...  Read the complete review
