Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: palpitations and a rash
I remember trying red bull ages ago and hating its artificial taste. I spied the new red bull cola and decided to give it a try. I'm a massive fan of cola drinks but generally keep my intake down to avoid the calories and I think diet coke is the most disgusting drink ever produced. My 355ml can cost around 90p from a petrol station.
Red Bull cola claims to be strong and natural, it boasts that its ingredients are 100% natural with no phosphoric acid, preservatives, artificial colours or flavourings. It has a rather strange list of ingredients including glangal, licquorice, corn mint and pine. Remeber, just because it's natural doesn't mean that it's good for you. Heroin and tobacco are also natural plant based substances but they are hardly health inducing.
Taste wise, this is really nice. It tastes like cheap cola (which I love), a really strong earthy taste and the other flavours mingle in really well. It has a slight medicinal aftertaste but I like that too and think it is much nicer than the original red bull. It has a nice amount of fizz, just enough to tickle the tastebuds without being overpowering.
Of course red bull is an energy drink and gives you a boost with the added caffeine. I dont like the fact that it doesnt tell you how much caffeine you get per can but I'm guessing it is a lot. I was feeling very sluggish and tired when I drank my can and my energy levels certainly went up, soon I was skipping along as happy as a lamb full of the joys of spring. Unfortunately this was not the only effect it had, soon my heart started pounding like it was about to jump out of my chest and I also developed a rash, obviously some kind of allergy to one of the ingredients. I drink coffee non stop, up to ten cups a day on average so it's not like my system is unused to caffeine.
I always find with energy potions that they make me a bit hyper and then I crash down again really quickly too and red bull cola did exactly the same thing and the winter gloom soon descended upon me again, I wish the palpitations went as quickly too.
Red Bull gives you palpitations and a rash, not nearly as appealing as the thought of growing wings and flying away.
Summary: I'm sticking with coffee
